"Today we will carry out a special ice and snow patrol on Tower 1380 to Tower 1383 of the 800 kV Jiansu Line. Early in the morning of February 9, Chinese New Year's Eve, Huang Yirui, the leader of the transmission operation and maintenance team of the Chongqing Southeast Branch of State Grid Chongqing Ultra High Voltage Company, explained the work and precautions of the day to the members of the work team.

In the past few days, many districts and counties in Chongqing have ushered in freezing rain and snow, and some high-altitude mountainous wires have been slightly covered with ice. In order to cope with the impact of this round of cold wave weather on UHV lines, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company organized operation and maintenance personnel in various territories to brave the wind and snow, and adopted the "manual + drone" inspection method to carry out ice observation and special inspection on the lines in the ice-prone sections of mountainous areas, so as to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid during the festival.
In the cold wind, Huang Yirui squinted his eyes, panted, and walked cautiously while loudly admonishing the four colleagues who accompanied him. Behind them, a long trail of zigzag footprints was left behind. At this moment, the road leading to the mountain has been covered with snow, frozen in some places, and the road surface is very slippery, even if you put on crampons, you have to wear gloves and rely on your hands to grasp the surrounding branches in order to use your hands and feet to stagger forward on the icy mountain road with a slope of nearly 45 slopes. "There is thin ice underneath the snow, which is slippery, so you have to step on it every step. Huang Yirui reminded the others behind him as he moved forward. When they reached a sharp bend in the steep slope, they slowed down and helped each other through.

Our ice-watching watch point is mainly responsible for the ice observation and inspection of a total of 95 base poles of the 800 kV Jiansu Line and Jintang Line. Huang Yirui introduced that at present, 6 ice-watching emergency duty points have been set up in the ice-prone section, which is 24-hour squatting, and according to the thickness of the ice and the division of the line, this part of the tower and the line will be inspected at least once a day.
After more than an hour of trekking in the wind and snow, Huang Yirui and his colleagues came to the 1381 tower of the Jiansu Line. At this moment, everyone's faces were red from the cold, and ice particles were formed on their eyebrows. The cold wind is howling on the mountain, and the inspection staff uses thermometers and anemometers to test environmental data such as temperature, humidity and wind speed in accordance with the standard process of ice observation operations, and uses binoculars to check whether there are abnormalities in the line corridors, insulator strings, fittings, etc.

The temperature difference in these two days is large, and the wires and insulators should be looked at more ......After the inspection of the tower itself, Wang Wanhai, an inspection employee, took off his gloves and skillfully operated a six-rotor drone to fly into the air, and conducted a comprehensive "physical examination" of the tower, insulators, wires and other equipment and channel tree barriers at close range.
With the continuous development of the power grid, the Chongqing Southeast Branch of the State Grid Chongqing Ultra High Voltage Company, where I work, has increased the number of lines that need to be operated and maintained to five, and the means of transmission operation and maintenance have become more diverse. The full popularity of drones makes it easier to find line defects and external damage hazards; Smart transmission lines allow us to find and deal with hidden dangers of wildfires and ice disasters more quickly; The temperature measurement device can quickly report temperature anomalies, which is convenient for us to eliminate equipment defects ...... in timeHuang Yirui, who has 20 years of experience in power transmission operation and maintenance, said.
On the occasion of the arrival of the Spring Festival, there are countless Huang Yirui and Wang Wanhai on the front line of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power anti-ice and power protection, stepping on the snow line of the high-altitude snow mountain and sticking to their posts, silently guarding the lights of thousands of homes.
