October 21, 2024.

2024 Undergraduate Clearing (Supplement) Closed.

Reminder everyone! Don't get stuck on deadlines and submit your documents at least 2-3 days in advance.

Because the UCAS application system needs to provide complete application information, it takes a certain amount of time to fill in, and it is very embarrassing if the information is incomplete.

At the same time, you also need to consider the time difference between China and the UK, network failures, payment failures, etc. In short, it's always right to pay early.

Moreover, the application deadline for this session has been extended by 6 days, which seems to be long enough to prepare, but in fact it means that it cannot be delayed.

British universities generally adopt a round-by-round + rolling mechanism to screen applicants, and the application will be closed immediately as long as the major is full, which is simply on a first-come, first-served basis, and time waits for no one.

Considerations for UCAS Application Submission.

Personal ID should be remembered.

Remember your Personal ID, which is an important identifier for your university application.

If you want to send an email to the university or UCAS in the future, you need to include your Personal ID in the email.

There are revisions to the Letters of Recommendation module.

Letters of recommendation are uploaded by the teacher who wrote the letter of recommendation for you, and do not need to be uploaded by the applicant.

Beginning with the 24fall application season, letters of recommendation will change from a free-text format to three structured sections:

01 Basic information and introduction of the school (required).

02 Whether there are special circumstances that may affect the applicant's performance in the examination or other assessments (optional).

03Outline what you think universities and colleges should know about the applicant (optional).

By visualizing the module structure, it saves the applicant's time and effort in completing the recommendation part, and the school can immediately understand the information needed.

The application fee is subject to adjustment

UCAS will introduce a new fee model for 2024 admissions, allowing all applicants to enjoy more services and opportunities.

Whether you volunteer 1 or 5, you only need to pay 27 onceWith an application fee of £5, you can use services such as UCAS Extra, Clearing and Clearing Plus at any time to help you find your ideal university in the face of fierce competition.

Modification of application materials.

Once your application is sent, it will be locked by the University Counsellor and you will no longer be able to modify it yourself.

If you have something to change, notify the University Counsellor as soon as possible so that she can return the application to you and you can resubmit it.

Some information can be modified by yourself, but there are also some information that cannot be modified and you will need to contact the university or UCAS. You can see how this can be done on UCAS.

In conclusion, in order not to delay the application, you must double-check the application materials before submitting them to ensure that there are no errors and omissions.

Summary of UCAS application data

Here is the 2023Fall application data released by UCAS some time ago::

Overall application status

The total number of applicants for studying in the UK this year is lower than last year, with 761,740 last year and 752025 this year.

But if you combine the application situation in the past ten years, you will find that the decrease is very small, only 9,715 fewer than last year.

The number of applicants is still higher than in 2021 and previous years, and the overall trend is still on the rise.

This shows that the track is still very crowded, and the competition between students is still very fierce.

Overall Admissions

The total number of admissions in 2023 is 554465, which is lower than the 563175 in 2022 but an increase from 541,240 in 2019.

The overall acceptance rate is 358%, which is lower than the data during the epidemic (20-22 years), but still higher than the 34 in 20191% acceptance rate.

It can also be seen that the current admission difficulty has returned to the level before 2019, the number of applicants has increased, the acceptance rate has decreased, and the admission difficulty is also rising!

Popular majors to apply

The top five most popular majors in this year's application season are: Medicine, Business, Social Sciences, Design and Performing Arts, and Computer Science.

The acceptance rate of Chinese students is the lowest in a decade

In the 2023 application cycle, the number of Chinese mainland students applying is 33,195, down 465 from 2022, but higher than in 2021 and previous years, and the popularity of Chinese students studying in the UK is still unabated.

Although the number of applicants is still high, the acceptance rate is not so optimistic.

The 2023 application cycle acceptance rate is 524%, and the acceptance rate for the 2022 application cycle is 55%, a decrease of nearly 3%, which is also the lowest acceptance rate in the past decade.

Finally, I would like to remind everyone that time waits for no one, and if you want to be admitted to the university of your choice, you should not delay any longer, be sure to submit your application materials before the deadline, and do a good job of checking to avoid careless mistakes.
