The Zhangshan high-speed railway is an important part of the main channel of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway, and forms a large coastal corridor together with the Guangshan-Shantou high-speed railway in Guangdong Province and the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway in Fujian Province, with a total length of 175 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
Project Overview. The Zhangshan high-speed railway project is connected to the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway in the north and the Shanshan high-speed railway in the south, and is an important part of the coastal passage of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network, with a total length of about 176 kilometers (the Fujian section is all in Zhangzhou City, about 1272 kilometers), a total of Zhangzhou, Zhangpu, Dongshan County, Zhao'an South, Raoping South, Shantou East, Shantou and other 7 stations (Zhangzhou, Zhangpu, Shantou for the existing station, Shantou East for the reserved station, the rest for the new station), the design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the planned construction period of 45 years.
The state approved the total investment of Zhangshan high-speed railway feasibility study of 400300 million yuan. By 2028, the section of the coastal high-speed rail corridor from Fuzhou to Guangzhou will be completed. At that time, the high-speed rail running time from Guangzhou east to Fuzhou south will be shortened to less than 4 hours, and the high-speed rail from Xiamen can quickly reach Guangzhou, the whole journey takes more than 2 hours, which is nearly half of the time compared with now.

Construction significance. The Zhangshan high-speed railway is one of the 102 major railway projects identified in the national "14th Five-Year Plan", and is included in the national "14th Five-Year Plan" for the development of modern comprehensive transportation system, the "14th Five-Year Plan" railway development plan, and the provincial major railway high-quality development project and the provincial "top priority" project.
The construction of the project is of great significance in many aspects:
First, it is conducive to the expansion of the Guangdong-Fujian Economic Belt and the in-depth implementation of the Maritime Silk Road strategy. The implementation of the project will accelerate the exchange between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the two major economic zones in the western part of the Taiwan Strait, establish an efficient and convenient high-capacity passenger transport channel, expand the Guangdong-Fujian economic belt, expand the opening up to the outside world, promote the development of the southeast coastal port group, advanced manufacturing base and marine economy, build an economic barrier in the southeast coast, and boost the construction of the core area of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road".
Second, it is conducive to the construction of new coastal railway corridors and the improvement of the national high-speed railway network. The implementation of the project will open up the key nodes of the southeast coastal high-speed railway passenger channel, build the main channel of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network, improve the intercity railway network in eastern Guangdong and Xiamen-Zhangquan area, further shorten the time and space distance between the regions along the line and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote economic and trade exchanges and personnel exchanges along the eastern and western Guangdong and western straits.
Third, it is conducive to promoting regional sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the masses. The implementation of the project will guide the spatial changes of land use in the areas along the route, improve the benefits of comprehensive land development and utilization, alleviate the problems of limited development space, insufficient land resources and environmental pollution in densely populated areas along the route, expand the hinterland for urban layout and industrial development, optimize the regional investment environment, and improve the quality of life of the people.
