Recently, according to the promotion network, Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth has been placed on vacation, while rumors about his possible move to Manchester United continue.

According to the Journal of Sport, Ashworth was placed on leave because he formally requested permission from the club to fulfill his wish to join Manchester United.

After the English Premier League and FA Cup approved Jim Ratcliffe's 25% partial investment in Manchester United, the focus turned to hiring a sporting director.

As part of Ratcliffe's deal with the Glazer family, the British chemical giant will gain full control of the Red Devils' sports operations, with plans for a sweeping overhaul at Old Trafford and hopes Ashworth will lead the key move.

Fabrizio Romano has informed that Manchester United are expected to push for a bid to poach Ashworth this week.

According to The People's Man, the 52-year-old scout and recruitment specialist has informed Newcastle club of his desire to join Manchester United.

Despite being protected under contract, Newcastle had a tough stance demanding high compensation before parting ways with their Premier League rivals, with Eddie Howe's side reportedly demanding £20 million as a transfer fee for Ashworth.

Ornstein says it is only a matter of time before Manchester United and Newcastle are in formal contact. If Newcastle want to stop Ashworth from leaving, they will have to continue to pay his full salary while on leave. Manchester United are willing to be patient as they see Ashworth as a long-term appointment and are unwilling to be forced to pay an unrealistic amount.
