On February 9, Guangdong Guanghui Expressway issued the "Survey and Design Bidding Announcement for the Reconstruction and Expansion Project of Huizhou Xiaojinkou to Guangzhou Luogang Section of Jiguang Expressway and Huizhou Xiaojinkou to Lingkeng Section of Guanghui Expressway". According to the tender announcement, the total investment of the project is expected to be 36.2 billion, far exceeding the 222 of the newly built Qiangsheng Expressway7.4 billion. Of course, this is mainly because of the difference in length, the expansion length of Guanghui Expressway is 154 kilometers, and the increase in speed is 65 kilometers.
The expansion of Guanghui Expressway is divided into two sections, the first section is the Luogang to Xiaojinkou section, which is expanded from two-way six lanes to two-way ten lanes, and the second section is the section from Xiaojinkou to Lingkeng, which is expanded from two-way four lanes to two-way eight lanes. Guanghui Expressway will build Tangquan hub and Huixia Expressway interconnection, and a total of 22 interchanges along the way need to be renovated. The Guanghui Expressway expansion project was planned for a long time, but it was implemented too suddenly. The toll of the Shiwan-Xiaojinkou section and the Xiaojinkou-Lingkeng section of the Guanghui Expressway will expire in August 2027, so the provincial expressway group must seize the time to start construction in order to postpone the toll. In order to legalize, some sections of the road may start and open to traffic ahead of schedule.
In addition to the expanded Guanghui Expressway, the expressway from Huizhou to Guangzhou also has the Zengzeng. Construction of the Zengzeng Expressway is in full swing, and the two highways are almost parallel. However, after the completion of the two expressways, it will be more convenient to drive from Huizhou city to Zengcheng Huangpu in the east of Guangzhou.
