Due to the falsification of engine data, the transportation and sales of diesel engine versions such as Toyota Hilux pickup, Land Cruiser, Prado, and Lexus LX 500D have been suspended to Europe. A spokesman for Toyota said that at present, there are about 840,000 vehicles will be affected by the incident.

Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) has falsified engine data, which has affected Toyota's sales in overseas markets.

A few days ago, according to the "European Automotive News", due to the falsification of engine data, Toyota Hilux pickup, Land Cruiser, Prado, and Lexus LX 500D and other diesel engine versions have been suspended to Europe.

A spokesperson for Toyota Motor Europe specifically said that the models affected by the data falsification are equipped with 1GD 28-liter diesel engine, 2GD 24-liter diesel engine and F33A 33-liter diesel engines, such as Hiace, Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux, Gran Ace, Dutro, etc., are currently affecting markets such as Eurasia, Israel and Turkey.

On March 17, 2023, TCO announced that a number of industrial engines produced by it violated the requirements of Japanese domestic laws and testing standards in the testing and certification. After that, the company organized an independent investigation team composed of external professionals to verify and finally found that there was data fraud.

It is worth noting that TICO is also one of Toyota's engine manufacturers, and has provided Toyota with three automobile engines: 1GD, 2GD and F33A, which are installed on Hiace, Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux, Gran Ace, Dutro and other models. The above three engines also have data falsification, such as during testing, the company will adjust the amount of fuel injected to output test results that meet the standard.

A Toyota spokesman also said that at present, there are about 840,000 vehicles will be affected by the incident. However, he said that most of the vehicles that have been delivered to customers are not affected by the data fraud. For example, the Hilux pickup trucks sold in Europe are produced in South Africa and Thailand; The Land Cruiser and Lexus LX, which are exported from Japan, do not all have problematic engines.

It is worth noting that in December 2023, Daihatsu Industrial Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Toyota Motor, was also exposed to 174 violations, including falsifying safety crash test data, involving 64 models. As a result, Daihatsu has suspended operations at three vehicle plants in Japan from December 25, 2023, and on December 26, 2023, the headquarters plant has also begun to suspend operations, and all models produced in Japan will be discontinued for transportation and sales.
