1. Motivation for studying abroad

At first, my idea was to take the postgraduate examination of this school-based major, but after making a study plan in advance, I found that it was difficult to take care of both the law examination and the postgraduate entrance examination at the same time.

However, considering that the current domestic environment is not easy to find a job, I still want to improve my academic qualifications and enhance my employment competitiveness, so I choose to study abroad.

3. School selection and positioning

In terms of school selection planning, I first determined the UK-Hong Kong new mixed application, and then decided on the school.

I studied international economic law as an undergraduate, and I would like to choose a related major for my master's program. Due to the relatively high grade point at the undergraduate level and the good undergraduate colleges, the top 50 schools in QS are considered.

At first, I had high expectations for myself, and I only considered the University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, the National University of Singapore in Singapore, and the University of Edinburgh in the UK. Later, after communicating with the teachers of the study abroad agency, I chose to add Hong Kong Chinese and the University of Manchester as guaranteed institutions.

Fourth, the reason for choosing the guide

I learned about this study abroad agency through a friend's recommendation. I had also considered DIY before, but since I have been studying in China, the teachers at the study abroad agents have also given me a strong sense of security.

To sum up, I chose this study abroad agency for the following reasons:1. This study abroad agent has its own student system, so the communication with the essay teacher will be very smooth, you can directly annotate the original text, and you can get timely feedback. I had high requirements for the paperwork, so I revised it about a dozen times. Direct feedback in the system was able to avoid confusion of multiple versions, and in the end, I worked with my essay teacher to create an essay that I was satisfied with.

2. Their app has the ranking, basic information, major, tuition, GPA requirements, etc. of each school, and I don't need to go to the school's official website to check it separately, which has provided me with great help in choosing a school.

3. The study abroad agent teachers are very warm-hearted, and the application season is very anxious, especially when I was put on the waiting list by LSE, my state was very bad, but every time I asked in the group, the agent teacher comforted me warmly and asked me to continue to wait, I was able to be appeased every time, and finally waited for the LSE offer.

4. The teachers of the study abroad agents are very professional, every time I ask questions related to the application in the group, the teachers can reply to me in a timely manner, and give professional answers and solutions.

For example, I missed the deadline for the reservation fee for the Hong Kong Chinese JD program, and the intermediary teacher sent an email to the Hong Kong Chinese Law School in time and solved the problem, and the Hong Kong Chinese extended my reservation fee DDL by one week. Although I didn't go to this program in the end, this incident convinced me that I made the right choice to choose this study abroad agency.

Fifth, the hardware background is improved

gpa

In fact, I made the decision to go abroad in the second half of my junior year, and I was facing the double pressure of the law exam and the IELTS exam, so I did not have the time and energy to retake it and improve my grade point. But fortunately, I paid more attention to grades from the beginning of my freshman year, and even if I didn't repeat it, I still achieved a GPA of 382, with an average score of 9101, so I ended up focusing on the law test, IELTS, and application essays.

Successfully pass the law exam for the younger students I want to say, no matter what your future plan is, you need to pay attention to your grades, I don't mean that you should blindly go to the grade points, you just need to take every course seriously, your grades will not be very bad, sometimes you want to work hard but there will be no opportunity and energy, so it is better to do things well at the beginning.

Language

I am completely self-taught, I didn't sign up for classes and didn't attend classes. Although I have a good foundation in English, I have been preparing for more than half a year. 70 to the last 80, I practiced dozens of sets of rolls.

IELTS self-study. Personally, I recommend the computer-based test, which can be completed on the computer when you practice.

For listening and reading, I think there is only one way, and that is to practice. Listen to the BBC for 40 minutes tomorrow two weeks before the test and grind your ears, which is the fastest way to improve. After each practice, it is not the end of the answer, but to summarize your mistakes and synonyms.

For the composition, you must output, because you will always feel that you write well, you can find a teacher on a certain treasure for correction, and at the same time you need to prepare the corresponding materials, so that you can write high-quality content in a short time. For speaking, I think this is the most important part for us Chinese students. It is not advisable to memorize the question bank completely, although I also had 8 in the first test0, but the oral score is only 60, you can only take the test again right away. During this period, I did not memorize the question bank, but used English to communicate with my family and friends on a daily basis, trying to be as natural as possible, and finally reached 65。

IELTS scores.

Sixth, the software background is improved

Internships

I started my internship during the first vacation of my freshman year, and I didn't learn much about law at that time, but I wanted to gain some experience in law firms. Since I was sure that I wanted to be a lawyer, I went to the law firm for an internship every vacation, which is why I had a lot of internship experience. I think younger students can enrich their internship experience as soon as possible, and if they can't find it, they can think about how to use the network.

Letters of recommendation

Try to choose a teacher who is easy to talk and does not procrastinate, and at the same time, the teacher's grade point in the class should be as good as possible, so that the recommendation letter can highlight the advantages.

Since I had an instructor in the academic competition before, and this instructor was also my teacher of two courses, I naturally asked him to be my recommender, and this teacher was also very cooperative.

The other teacher I hired was very good, she was also the teacher of my two courses, and I decided with her at the beginning of the semester that I wanted her to be my recommender teacher, so she also paid more attention to me, and in the end, the grades in that class were better.

Scientific research

If possible, try to participate in the school's ** competition, in fact, generally as long as you participate, there will be a participation award, which can make you more brilliant than others in the CV.

VII. Application Process

I would like to mention the essay writing process, which is also the most important part of the study abroad application. Since I really want to apply for LSE's LLM program, and LSE is very important to the essay, I attach great importance to the final essay.

At the beginning, I gave all the materials to the essay teacher, and the essay teacher integrated the materials together and gave me the results, and then I revised the results more than a dozen times, and the essay teacher was very cooperative.

I attach great importance to the academic pursuit embodied in the essay, which is the so-called SAP, and the integrity of the essay is very important, and the internship experience, scientific research experience, and career planning should be related and reflect the same goal.

8. Write at the end

Preparing and planning in advance will allow you to have more opportunities and time on the way to study, and I hope all students can get an offer that satisfies them!
