How to deal with frozen bad concrete and exterior plastering

During winter construction, concrete is often damaged by freezing, resulting in problems such as loss of strength and surface cracking. Similarly, exterior plastering is prone to falling off or cracking due to freezing. In order to solve these problems, we need to take a series of effective measures.

1. Deal with frozen and damaged concrete.

1.Clear loose parts.

First of all, the parts of the concrete that have been loose or cracked need to be removed. Tools such as chisels, hammers, etc., can be used to remove concrete blocks or slurries with loose surfaces until a solid base layer is exposed. Be careful not to over-knock to avoid damage to the base layer.

2.Patch the base layer.

For the unevenness, holes and other problems in the base layer, it is necessary to repair. It can be filled with high-strength cement mortar or patching agent to ensure that the base layer is flat and solid.

3.Apply a waterproof layer.

In order to prevent the concrete from being damaged by freezing again, a waterproofing layer needs to be applied to the treated base layer. You can choose waterproof paint or waterproofing membrane, and apply according to the product instructions to ensure that the coating is evenly applied and there are no omissions.

4.Restore the plastering layer.

After the waterproofing layer has dried, the restoration of the plastering layer can be carried out. A thin layer of cement mortar is applied to the base layer first, and then compacted and smoothed to ensure a smooth and flat surface. Finally, a layer of decorative paint is applied to make the surface more beautiful.

2. Deal with frozen and damaged exterior wall plastering.

1.Clean up the loose parts.

For plastering layers that have fallen off or cracked, the loose parts need to be cleaned first. The surface can be leveled with a scraper or sandpaper to remove dust and dirt.

2.Fill in the gaps and holes.

Gaps and holes in the plastering layer can be filled with caulk or putty. Choose the appropriate caulk or putty according to the size of the gap or hole, and apply according to the product instructions to ensure that the filling is dense and smooth.

3.Enhance the strength of the base layer.

If the adhesion between the plastering layer and the base layer is poor, the base layer can be reinforced before plastering. It can be treated with interface agents or concrete reinforcing agents to improve the cohesion and strength of the base layer.

4.Restore the plastering layer.

After the filling and reinforcement treatment is completed, the restoration of the plastering layer can be carried out. A thin layer of cement mortar is applied to the base layer first, and then compacted and smoothed to ensure a smooth and flat surface. Finally, a layer of decorative paint is applied to make the surface more beautiful.

It should be noted that when carrying out the restoration of the plastering layer of the façade, special attention should be paid to the weather conditions at the time of construction. If the temperature is too low or there is freezing on the day of construction, the construction should be stopped immediately to avoid secondary damage to the plastering layer. At the same time, after the construction is completed, the exterior wall should be regularly inspected and maintained, and the existing problems should be found and dealt with in time to ensure the beauty and safety of the exterior wall.
