Lin Yutang (1895-1976), a native of Longxi, Fujian, was an important representative of modern Chinese Neo-Taoism, a famous writer, scholar, translator, and linguist. He received his M.A. from Harvard and his Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Leipzig. After returning to China, he has taught in Tsinghua University, Peking University, Xiamen and other universities for more than 30 years.
