Fast Technology reported on January 29 that Toyota Motor announced today that Toyota Industries (TICO) reported to Toyota Motor Corporation, which commissioned TICO to develop diesel engines for automobiles
The company received a report from a special commission of inquiry, which concluded that TICO may have violated the rules on issues related to emissions certification.
The commission's investigation found irregularities in horsepower output testing of three diesel engine models for automobiles commissioned by Toyota for TICO certification, with 10 models worldwide using the affected engines, including six in Japan.
Toyota said it had re-inspected the production products produced at the plant and confirmed that the affected engines and vehicles met engine performance output standards.
Therefore, there is no need to stop using the affected engine or vehicle.
Toyota Motor said that based on the results of the investigation, TICO has decided to temporarily suspend shipments of affected engines, and Toyota has also decided to temporarily suspend shipments of vehicles equipped with affected engines.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Toyota has been involved in a test "fraud" scandal, in December last year, Toyota was exposed to the problem of test fraud in its subsidiary Daihatsu Automobile.
The investigation found that most of Daihatsu's vehicles had falsified safety crash test data, and Toyota had found about 174 violations in 64 models, and the shipment of all Daihatsu vehicles was suspended.
After the incident attracted the attention of the first person, Soichiro Okuhira, president of Daihatsu Automobile, and Hiroki Nakajima, vice president of Toyota Motor Corporation, bowed 90 degrees again and apologized.
