We all know about the Korean War and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. In October 1950, the Chinese People's Volunteers went to Korea to participate in the war, and after three years of hard struggle, China and the United States signed an armistice agreement in Kaesong. Recently, various TV dramas and movies that have been popular on the Internet have reminded us of that period of history again. Many people are familiar with the history of this war, but if you ask why the Korean War broke out and why we got involved in the war, I am afraid that many people will not be able to answer. Even if you search the Internet, there are different theories. Today, I am trying to answer the question of the cause of this war from a certain angle, hoping to be able to throw bricks and brainstorm ideas.
1. The history of North Korea. According to the historical records of our country, the origin of Korea should be the place where King Wu of Zhou divided the Jizi. Jizi was the younger brother of Emperor Yi at the end of the Shang Dynasty and the uncle of King Xu, and was as famous as Weizi and Bigan, and was called "Yin Mo Sanren". According to the historical data of the Koreans themselves, it is said that the mythical character Danjun Wangjian founded the country in 2333 BC, and the country name is "Joseon". 194 BC. During the Warring States period, Wei Man, the general of the Yan State, continued to secretly accumulate strength after defecting to Jizi Joseon, and finally launched a mutiny to occupy Korea, and the Korean Peninsula began to enter the Wei Joseon period. Whether it is Jizi Korea or Wei-style Korea, they all have various entanglements with the Central Plains Dynasty. If you say that Korea is an independent country, its founders are all vassals of the Central Plains Dynasty. If you say that Korea is not an independent country, it seems to have broken away from the rule of the Central Plains Dynasty.
During the time of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, we all know that he was an emperor with outstanding martial arts, attacking the Xiongnu in the north, Baiyue in the south, the Western Regions in the west, and Korea in the east. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent troops to conquer Korea and set up four counties in Korea, and the Han Dynasty directly ruled Korea for more than 400 years. In 313 AD, Goguryeo annexed the last county of the four Han counties, Lelang County. After that, the Korean Peninsula entered the period of the establishment of the three kingdoms of Goguryeo, Silla, and Baekje, which is known as the "Three Kingdoms of Korea" period in history. In 668 AD, the Tang Dynasty and Silla joined forces to destroy Baekje and Goguryeo, and the Goguryeo homeland belonged to the Tang Dynasty, and Silla received the original Samhan homeland and Baekje. For more than 1,000 years after that, the Central Plains Dynasty and Korea implemented a tributary canonization system based on the premise of enforcement and recognition. It's like the younger brother acknowledging the eldest brother, and the eldest brother promises to cover the younger brother, but the younger brother has to give gifts to the eldest brother every year, and the younger brother hangs up, and the heir must also be canonized by the eldest brother to be justified.
2. A turning point in China-DPRK relations. As mentioned earlier, from the beginning of the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, North Korea basically belonged to China's vassal states, and when it was bullied, it greeted the big brother. But at the beginning of the 19th century, it was the history of the fall of the Manchu Qing that we know as we all know. Under the repeated invasions of the world powers, the Manchus could not protect themselves, lost a series of wars one after another, signed a series of unequal treaties that humiliated the country, and ceded land with reparations. Britain, France, and Japan took turns attacking Korea. Eventually, Japan forced Korea to sign the Treaty of Ganghwa, Korea's first unequal treaty, in February 1876. In 1894, the "Donghak Party Uprising" broke out in Korea, and the Qing Dynasty sent troops to Korea at the request of North Korea. At this time, Japan also sent troops to Korea. Behind it is the familiar script of the First Sino-Japanese War, whether on land or sea, the Qing Dynasty was defeated, and the "Treaty of Shimonoseki" was signed with Japan.
At this time, Korea was completely reduced to a Japanese colony, and the eldest brother Qing ** was also tossed by the great powers. Why are the great powers optimistic about the land of Korea? Geographically, the Korean Peninsula is bordered by Tsarist Russia to the north, China to the west, and Japan to the east. In the 19th century, it was a time when the great powers were vying for territory, so as North Korea, which was caught between the three great powers, was inevitably roasted on a hot pan. Emotionally, North Korea is clearly closer to China. Because North Korea uses Chinese characters, its ancestors have always accepted the shadow of China, and its culture is closer to China. However, the armed forces of Japan and Russia are too strong, so North Korea is helpless.
At that time, Tsarist Russia seized a total of more than 5 million square kilometers of territory from the Qing Dynasty through a series of unequal treaties. Japan, too, was not far behind, with Korea, Taiwan, the Penghu Islands, and the Ryukyus, all the territories that were close enough to Japan to be invaded and occupied by Japanese imperialism. Among them, there is no mention of the privileges of Dalian, Lushun, Qingdao and other ports seized by Japan. The frenzied Japanese imperialists, unable to satisfy themselves with so many benefits, finally brazenly reacted against a full-scale war of aggression against China, intending to annihilate China. China is so big that it can't stand up to Japan on its own, let alone small North Korea?
3. North Korea's key nodes. Just when Korea was about to accept its fate, under the courageous resistance of the Chinese people and the strong blows of the Allied forces, Japan, one of the initiators of World War II, surrendered! As soon as Japan announced its surrender, China naturally canceled all unequal treaties with Japan, and Korea naturally borrowed light! At this time, it has reached modern times, and naturally it is no longer possible to engage in the kind of vassal state, so who has the final say in the territory of North Korea has become a big problem! When Japanese troops withdrew from the Korean Peninsula, the two superpowers that had risen in World War II, the Soviet Union and the United States, began to fight against Korea. Although the United States and the Soviet Union were on the same side in dealing with Germany and Japan, when Germany and Japan surrendered, former friends became today's rivals. The Soviet Union and the United States would never watch North Korea fall to either side, so they began to meddle in North Korean affairs. So MacArthur instructed Korea to accept Japan's surrender by the Soviet Union and south of the 38th parallel, and south of the 38th parallel, by the United States.
In 1948, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was established in the north of Korea under the leadership of Kim Il Sung, and in the south of Korea was established in the south of Korea under the leadership of Syngman Rhee. Both Kim Il Sung and Syngman Rhee wanted to unify the Korean Peninsula. But in fact, neither of them had realistic ideals. Because as far as the international situation at that time was concerned, neither the Soviet Union nor the United States wanted to see the reunification of the Korean Peninsula, because once it was reunified, the DPRK would listen to the Soviet Union? Or listen to the United States? So the best ending is to split in two. Therefore, the initiators of the Korean Peninsula so far are the United States and the Soviet Union, and if it were not for them, North Korea would have been reunified long ago!
Because Kim Il Sung believed in communism, he was ideologically closer to the Soviet Union and China. Therefore, when Kim Il Sung commanded the army to advance south, he was naturally supported by China and the Soviet Union. At the beginning, Kim Il Sung was in a state of power, and South Korea was about to be unable to stand it, but at this time, the United States intervened, landed at Incheon, and almost drove Kim Il Sung into the sea. However, at this time, the Soviet Union was a chicken thief, and he only sent aid but did not send troops, and he also strongly encouraged us to send troops. Kim Il Sung asked our army to send troops to Korea. At the same time, the U.S. military drove the North Korean radical troops to the Yalu River and bombed the border areas with us. Taking into account the international situation and the territorial security strategy, in the end, hundreds of thousands of Chinese volunteers sent troops to North Korea, which led to the later War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea!
