Top 3 universities in South Korea, bachelor's and master's application conditions and advice!
Although the rankings of Korean universities change greatly every year, there is basically no controversy about the top five universities in South Korea, which are the top 3 universities in the top 200 or so in the QS rankings.
Seoul National University! Korea University!
Yonsei University! Perhaps for most students, these 5 schools, as sprint colleges in the application, are not suitable for all students who want to study in South Korea. When applying, you still need to look at it according to your own situation.
The first, Seoul National University.
Seoul National University is a national comprehensive university in South Korea. I don't introduce much about this school, but students who know studying in Korea are definitely no strangers to this school.
It is not recommended to apply for undergraduates, and it is really difficult. High school graduation is required, Korean level 5 or above, English scores are better, and additional materials can be provided, such as a score of 600 or above in the college entrance examination, and the SAT is used as an auxiliary application. This is also the reason why I don't recommend everyone to apply, you have to prepare too much, and you may not be recorded, and the pay is not proportional to the return. With such excellent conditions, it is better to read 985 211 in China.
To apply for graduate school at Seoul National University, it is recommended that you have a background from a domestic 985 211 university, or a top 200 overseas QS university, and choose this major or a corresponding major for graduation, with Korean level 6 or above, and IELTS 6 for majors that require English5 or above, the higher the GPA, the better. Only one application can be made for GSIS courses and general graduate schools.
The second Korea University.
Founded in 1905, Korea University is Korea's first higher education institution established by private capital and is one of Korea's BK21 Project Excellence Universities. Ranked 74th in the QS World University Rankings in '23.
It is recommended to graduate from a high school in Korea and apply for a liberal department or relatively unpopular basic subjects, such as administrative science and sociology, with a high school graduation from a high school in Korea and a level 4 in Korean. If you want to choose a popular major, please refer to the undergraduate application requirements of Seoul National University. The higher the level of Korean, the more competitive it is.
For graduate students, it is recommended that students from domestic 985 211 colleges and universities or overseas QS ranking top students apply, with an average score of 85 or above, and a minimum of double 6 in Korean IELTS.
The third Yonsei University.
Yonsei University, located in Seoul, South Korea, is a comprehensive university established in the spirit of education.
A research university, known as one of the three universities in Korea along with Seoul and Korea, it is one of the three universities recognized as famous in South Korea. Yonsei University is the first university in Korea to conduct international student exchanges, and has signed international student exchange agreements with more than 400 universities around the world, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Hong Kong University, and the University of California, Berkeley. Therefore, Yonsei University is very international and very friendly to international students.
The undergraduate suggests that most majors require Korean language level 5 or above to apply, and the higher the Korean language level, the better, so if you want to miss out on famous schools for Korean language ability, you can consider Yonsei University's Faculty of International Talents.
Graduate students are advised to apply for 985 211 universities in China or students with high QS rankings overseas, and Korean IELTS Double 6 is not recommended to apply across majors, and its application difficulty can basically be equated with Korea University.
