In March 1966, Liu Tongqing, director of Moutai Distillery, and Ji Keliang, a technician, attended the export liquor work conference of the Ministry of Light Industry and decided to change the ceramic bottle of Moutai to a white glass bottle with a screw mouth. In July of that year, the domestic and foreign ceramic bottles were all changed to milky white glass bottles, which are still used today.
