Mondo Collection Updated on 2024-02-08

Hello everyone, I am Gen Yuexuan, and I have loved collecting since I was a child.

1988 is the year of the dragon in China's traditional lunar calendar, of course, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications also routinely issued T124 Wuchen Year of the Dragon stamps T124. Coincidentally, that year also marked the 110th anniversary of the issuance of the Dalong stamps.

Therefore, in order to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the issuance of China's dragon stamps, the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a set of J150 dragon stamp sheetlets, which was originally a set of stamps with good themes and superior design. Stamp designer Wang Huming designed, Jiang Weijie carving, it can really be described as a gathering of masters.

However, the various controversies surrounding this "royal blood" J150 dragon miniature sheet have never stopped since the day of its birth. In addition to the criticism of the huge circulation (compared to the issuance of '88) and the problem of gold dust in the "seawater Jiangya", there are also many unbelievable variants. Today, Gen Yuexuan will talk to you about the variants behind this set of J150 dragon miniature sheets.

On August 15, 1878 (it is generally believed that the earliest date of issuance of Dalong stamps was between July 24 and August 1, 1878), the Qing Dynasty ** Customs trial postal service, the first issue of China's first set of stamps - Dalong stamps, this set of stamps a total of 3, the main picture is the symbol of the Qing royal family - the dragon.

In fact, before the issuance of the Dalong stamps, the Qing Customs had already designed three stamp sketches, namely the cloud dragon, the pagoda and the 10,000-year-old image, among which the "10,000-year-old elephant" was the most precious and valuable.

The stamps are available in thin paper dragons, broad-sided dragons, and thick paper dragons. The face value of the postage is divided into: one cent silver (green, postage for sending printed matter) three cents of silver (red, postage for sending letters) and five cents of silver (yellow, postage for **).

The birth of Dalong stamps is closely related to the development of China's modern postal service, and its issuance has become one of the symbols of the beginning of China's modern postal service.

The issuance of Dalong stamps marks the beginning of China's establishment of modern postal services, which means that China, which has a history of thousands of years of postal communications, has entered a new period of adopting modern postal communication methods.

J150M China Dalong Stamp Issue 110th Anniversary (Miniature Sheet) is a stamp issued on July 2, 1988, printed and published by Beijing Stamp Factory, engraving master Jiang Weijie participated in the engraving, China's famous stamp designer Wang Huming design, at the same time, this J150M Sheetlet is also the stamp designer Mr. Wang Huming stamp design career "** work".

This set of J150M Dalong stamp sheetlets, is the first time in China to use the seven-color printing press to print stamps, but also the only set of three-color engraved four-color photocopy overprint stamps, in the history of stamp printing in China has an irreplaceable position.

This set of stamps is designed to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the issue of the Tai Long stamps. The souvenir sheet is painted against a blue background, and in the center of the picture are three large dragon stamps issued by the Qing Dynasty.

On top of the dragon ticket, a raging flame surrounded a golden orb. Under the dragon ticket, it is the commonly used "seawater Jiangya" (also known as "seawater river cliff") decorative pattern in the Ming and Qing dynasties, implying the meaning of Fushan Shouhai and unifying the country.

Designer Wang Huming adopts the techniques of ancient Chinese decorative painting, and pursues a classical, solemn, harmonious, and contemporary artistic style, which is an excellent expression of the theme through the use of style and color. In color, the author adopted blue. Blue is the color of the sky, and the sky was the object of worship in ancient China, and the emperor was considered to be the true son of heaven.

Because blue represents the sky in the Manchu culture of the Qing Dynasty, such as the Temple of Heaven, a famous historical site where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty went to worship the sky and pray for a good year, the prayer hall and the imperial dome are decorated with blue glass. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty Taizu Nurhachi reorganized the organization, initially 4 colors, red, white, yellow, blue, and later added 4 flags inlaid with yellow, inlaid white, inlaid with red, and inlaid with blue, and the eight banners system was established, including blue.

Their flags are often divided into: red, blue, white, and black.

In order to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the issuance of the Dalong stamps, China** and philatelic organizations also held a series of commemorative activities at that time. To tell the truth, the philatelic atmosphere at that time, whether from the official or the non-governmental, was very attentive and reliable, and the whole country played a game of chess.

On July 2, 1988, the 110th anniversary of the issuance of China's big dragon stamps was held in the small hall of the Great Hall of the People, attended by more than 500 people including party and ** leaders, cultural celebrities, and overseas stamp friends.

On the afternoon of July 2, the Dalong Stamp Exhibition opened at the China Stamp Museum, displaying many precious stamps and cultural relics. On July 3rd, an academic seminar on Dalong stamps and the history of Chinese postal services was held at the Xiangshan Hotel. Other promotional activities were held during the commemoration.

However, this set of J150 dragon souvenir sheets, later in the postal market, really surprised the postman and was very disappointed.

First of all its 623The circulation of 070,000 pieces was the largest souvenir sheet of the year. Secondly, the decorative gold dust printing such as "seawater Jiangya" in the souvenir sheet, which is easy to oxidize, flashy, and extremely poor in printing quality, is nicknamed "the worst printed souvenir sheet in history". Third, later in the process of collection, it was discovered by postal friends that there were many variations of the souvenir sheet (it is more appropriate to call it defective), Gen Yuexuan summed it up, mainly divided into the following five types:

1.Missing prints. The word "C" in the English "chlna" in "One Cent Silver" is omitted as a whole; The word "government" in "post political bureau" and the word "three" in "three points of silver" in one cent silver are also partially incomplete; In addition to the mutilated text, this phenomenon also appears in many places in the main picture "Big Dragon", such as the dragon's left eyeball in "Three Cents of Silver", which becomes a "one-eyed dragon"; In "Wu Fen Yin", the dragon's right claw is also broken; The border also has multiple broken wires.

2.Brushes vary in shades.

The color of the dragon's body and dragon head in "Wu Fenyin" is uneven, especially the dragon's eyes are light and dull, as if they are "blind", and the border also has the same problem.

3.The thickness of the lines varies.

The lines of the inner frame of the main picture are of different thicknesses in many places, and they are extremely asymmetrical.

4.Register shift.

Chinese People's Post", the name of the ticket and the face value and other words moved up, and are closely connected with the bottom border of the main picture.

5.Perforation displacement.

The top, bottom, left and right sides are asymmetrical, and when the stamp of the souvenir sheet is separated from the edge paper, the stamp will leave a blue "L" shaped edge.

It is rare for so many variations to exist in the same stamp, especially the omission of the entire letter "C" in "Chlna".

The list of problems listed in the above J150M Dalong miniature sheet are just some of the variant problems that I have found in my personal summary, as for how many problems are there? I hope that in the process of collection, if there is anything new, please leave a message in the comment area. In any case, the problems of these variant boxes, gold dust, and rough printing quality have more or less affected the interest of collectors, and their collectible value and artistic value have also been greatly affected, and they have been at a low level.
