The difficulty of Jingkang was a turning point in the early Ming Dynasty, after this incident, Zhu Di ascended to the throne and opened another prosperous era, and Zhu Yunwen disappeared and became a common material for literature in the past dynasties.
Zhu Yuanzhang in order to avoid the Ming Dynasty in the former dynasty princes to compete for power and profit, early to divide the princes in the place, he is the "eldest son inheritance system" of the loyal guardian, since he was a child carefully cultivated the crown prince Zhu Biao, but Zhu Biao unfortunately died young, he put all his hope on the imperial grandson Zhu Yunwen. Zhu Yunwen has a weak personality, unlike his grandfather and father, who are clean and neat and decisive. But Zhu Yuanzhang believes that it is more than enough for him to be a "gentleman of success".
There is such an interesting story recorded in "The Record of Ming Taizong", saying that before Zhu Yuanzhang died, he asked the ministers around him three times, "Is Zhu Di coming?" None of the ministers present answered. This history book was repaired during the reign of Renzong, who was the son of Zhu Di, which inevitably made future generations guess that this was a deliberate remark to beautify the fact of Zhu Di's usurpation.
shouted "Zhu Di is coming" three times in a row, or before Taizu died, which obviously made future generations reverie, Taizu originally wanted to pass on the throne to Zhu Di. If this is the case, it will find a good excuse for Zhu Di to bring troops into Beijing without permission, and the legitimacy of Zhu Di's throne will also be there.
But if we look at history, we will find that this is not possible. First of all, when Taizu was seriously ill, he issued an edict, saying that after his death, the subjects of the world could cry for three days, and should not delay the wedding event, and the vassal kings of various places did not need to go to Beijing to mourn, and they were not allowed to bring troops into the court within three years. Obviously, this is Zhu Yuanzhang paving the way for his imperial grandson, so that Zhu Yunwen has time to gain a firm foothold. Since the vassal king is not allowed to enter Beijing, there is no such thing as Zhu Yuanzhang summoning Zhu Di on his deathbed.
Secondly, the emperor is dying, and the successor emperor is not in the palace, which will definitely cause chaos, and Zhu Yuanzhang, who has always been cautious, will not know that if he really wants to pass on to Zhu Di, he will definitely summon him into the palace early. The emperors of the previous dynasties had no heirs, and they would take the sons of their elder brothers and younger brothers into the palace to cultivate them early, not to mention that they were in urgent need. If Zhu Yuanzhang is afraid that he will make Zhu Di the prince, it will cause dissatisfaction among other princes, there is no need to worry about it. Zhu Yunwen is a weak scholar, not as powerful as Zhu Di, and the other princes are far away, besides, it is the order of his father, who dares not to obey?
Therefore, although this story is from a history book, its authenticity is almost zero, which is just a political means for Zhu Di to confirm the legitimacy of his ascendancy.
