Less than one month after leaving, Xiao Shu returned to the No. 5 Middle School for Minors in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. This is a school that admits minors with serious bad behaviors for education and correction, and Xiaoshu was originally sent here to study due to burglary. This time he came back because he wanted to come as a volunteer and help more people.
Every month after that, Xiao Shu would come to the social work agency to do what he could. Today, although he is in work, he still keeps in touch with social workers.
From seriously bad behavior to giving back to the society, Xiao Shu is the epitome of many young people who have been helped by the "For Tomorrow - Yunnan Border Ethnic Areas Social Service System Construction Project for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency", and it is also the epitome of the work of Zhu Yuejia of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Youth League. "We hope that through such positive interactions, we can help more young people embark on the right path and embrace a better life," Zhu said. ”
Zhu Yuejia has been working at Yunnan (Kunming) 12355 Youth Service Desk (hereinafter referred to as "Yunnan 12355") since May 2022. At that time, she had just returned from Qinghe Village, Datianba Town, Changning County, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, and her work department was adjusted to the Rights and Interests Department, responsible for the prevention of juvenile delinquency and the protection of juvenile rights and interests in Yunnan Province.
In 2018, Zhu Yuejia graduated from Beijing Electronic Science and Technology Institute majoring in administrative management, and at first she thought that Yunnan 12355 was just a mental health **. Later, in my work, I gradually learned that this is a work to protect the rights and interests of young people. She found that the protection of rights and interests requires a very high level of professionalism. Zhu Yuejia, who graduated from a non-law major, not only has to study laws and regulations, but also learn how to communicate with young people with social workers.
After more than one year of exploration, she found that there were not many vicious cases caused by local teenagers, and most of them were bad behaviors such as petty theft. Zhu Yuejia believes that the lack of family education and inadequate supervision are the root causes. "Some parents have simple and rude parenting methods, while others leave their children with the elderly because they are busy with work or go out to work, and lack care and discipline for their children. She said that some children are prone to extreme ways to break the law and commit crimes, either because their basic rights and interests are not protected, or because they want to get the attention of their parents.
In Zhu Yuejia's view, Internet addiction is also one of the important reasons for teenagers' bad behavior. "There are many hidden dangers in online dating and online security for minors, and online control needs to be strengthened. She said that some elderly people or parents will directly give their mobile phones to their children to play with as soon as something happens, and if teenagers are addicted to it for a long time, it is easy to be misled and have bad behaviors.
Zhu Yuejia is also actively involved in youth law popularization and self-protection education projects, such as drowning prevention and stress reduction in the middle and high school entrance examinations. She participated in the "Sowing New Hope for Health" 12355 Youth Health Guardian Action Public Welfare Project, and went to Hope Primary School with social workers to carry out activities. Actively invest in the comprehensive service project of 12355 service stations, and reach more young people living in remote areas or living in mountainous areas with offline services on the platform.
Serving young people began when she was stationed in the village. Since coming to Qinghe Village in July 2019, Zhu Yuejia has actively organized and carried out the "Golden Autumn Student Assistance, Love Dreams" activity every year, and sent love scholarships to poor students who were admitted to universities; Take the initiative to report to the Baoshan Women's Federation and the Changning County Women's Federation, and strive for project assistance and financial assistance for the female students in difficulty in Wangang Village; Actively report to the All-China Women's Federation and the Provincial Women's Federation, and strive for safe drinking water projects for Datianba Town Center Primary School and Qinghe Village Primary School; Make full use of the work funds, and coordinate the support of caring enterprises to carry out the activity of "warm children's hearts and grow together" in Qinghe Village.
When she completed the primary school research in Qinghe Village, Zhu Yuejia found that the hardware conditions for teaching in the school were relatively complete, but the overall environment was relatively difficult. "In some places, the walls have cracked, and there are 6-10 students in a dormitory, living on steel frame beds in the upper and lower structures, and the interior is not only cramped, but also a little damp. In order to provide a better living environment for students, she contacted the Baoshan Youth League Municipal Committee and learned that a teaching group from the Communication University of China was nearby. "Not only are many of the students in the support group good at art creation, but they also carry projects from Sony and Nippon. After communication and coordination, the "Color for Love" project sponsored by Nippon Paint Company landed in Qinghe Village, beautifying the campus environment of Qinghe Village Wan Primary School and Qinghe Village Kindergarten; Sony donated classroom projector equipment worth 20,000 yuan to the school to provide Qinghe students with more diverse learning methods and a better learning environment.
In the past, work related to teenagers was just a conceptual thing for me. And when Zhu Yuejia really got involved, she realized that the work in this area can be so specific and can provide real help to teenagers.
At the end of August 2023, Zhu Yuejia underwent another departmental adjustment and was transferred to the Juvenile Department of the Yunnan Provincial Youth League Committee. Although the focus of the Juvenile Department and the Equity Department are different, in her opinion, the work of the two departments is related. "The root cause of many teenagers' bad behaviors is psychological problems, so psychological counseling is very important. She said that if children can be helped to establish the correct "three views" in childhood, then it may be easier for them to get on the right track in the future and reduce the problem of juvenile delinquency.
Now working for 5 and a half years, Zhu Yuejia is still learning. Seeing that with the help of herself and her colleagues, one teenager after another has lost their way and is on the right path, she feels that her work is particularly meaningful. In 2023, Zhu Yuejia was awarded the title of National Advanced Individual for Safeguarding the Rights and Interests of Women and Children by the All-China Women's Federation.
