Where did all the Forestry Academy go?

A few days ago, I sorted out the history of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in the "College History Series - Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University", which mentioned Fujian Forestry University. At present, today there are 5 undergraduate colleges and universities named after "forestry" and 6 higher vocational colleges named after "forestry".

This article briefly sorts out the colleges and universities named after "Forestry College" in the past, which is not necessarily complete and is for reference only.

The "College of Forestry" is still named after "Forestry".

At present, the five undergraduate universities are: Beijing Forestry University, Nanjing Forestry University, Northeast Forestry University, Southwest Forestry University, Central South University of Forestry and Technology.

Beijing Forestry UniversityFounded in 1952, it was merged from the Forestry Department of the former Beijing Agricultural University and the Forestry Department of Hebei Agricultural University, and in 1956, the Department of Landscape Cultivation of Beijing Agricultural University and the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University were partially merged, and in 1960, it was listed as a national key higher education institution, and in 1985, it was renamed Beijing Forestry University.

Nanjing Forestry UniversityThe predecessor can be traced back to the Agricultural Naturalist Department of Sanjiang Normal School in 1902 and the Agricultural Department of Jinling University in 1914. In 1952, Nanjing Forestry College was established with the College of Forestry of Nanjing University and the College of Forestry of Jinling University as the main body. In 1955, the Department of Forestry of Huazhong Agricultural College was merged. In 1972, it was renamed Nanjing Institute of Forestry and Industry Industry; In 1983, the name of Nanjing Forestry College was restored; In 1985, it was renamed Nanjing Forestry University.

Northeast Forestry CollegeIt was also founded in 1952 on the basis of the Department of Forestry of the College of Agriculture of Zhejiang University and the Department of Forestry of Northeast Agricultural College, and was originally co-located with Northeast Agricultural College. The school was established independently in 1956. In 1964, Jilin Forestry Engineering College (partially) was merged into Northeast Forestry College. In August 1985, it was renamed Northeast Forestry University.

Southwest Forestry CollegeIt originated in 1938 in the Department of Forestry of Yunnan University. In 1958, the two departments of agronomy and forestry of Yunnan University established Kunming Agriculture and Forestry College. In 1960 and 1978, it was renamed Yunnan Forestry College. In 1983, it was renamed Southwest Forestry College. In 2010, it was renamed Southwest Forestry University.

Central South Forestry CollegeOne of the predecessors was Hunan Forestry College, an undergraduate college founded in 1958. In 1963, Hunan Forestry College moved to Guangzhou and merged with the Forestry Department of South China Agricultural College to establish Central South Forestry College. In 1974, it moved to Hunan and changed its name to Hunan Forestry College. In 1978, it was restored to Central South Forestry College. In 2005, it was renamed Central South University of Forestry and Technology.

Some of the Forestry Colleges that have been merged or renamed have been renamed

Zhejiang Forestry University:Founded in 1958, it was originally named Tianmu Forestry College, Zhejiang Forestry College in 1966, and Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University in 2010.

Hejiang Forestry College:In 1958, it was merged into Mudanjiang Forestry School and developed into today's Heilongjiang Forestry Vocational and Technical College.

Guangxi Forestry University:In 1958, it was established on the basis of the Department of Forestry of Guangxi Agricultural College, and was abolished in 1962, and all departments were merged into Guangxi Agricultural College.

Inner Mongolia Forestry University:It was established in 1958 and participated in the merger of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University in 1999.

Fujian Forestry University:Founded in 1958, it was divided and merged with Fujian Agricultural College, and participated in the establishment of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in 2000.

Jilin Forestry University:It was renamed in 1960, formerly known as Jilin Forestry School, which was established in 1952, and participated in the establishment of Beihua University in 1999.

Northwest Forestry College:In 1979, it was separated from Northwest Agricultural College and merged into Northwest A&F University in 1999.

Hebei Forestry University:In 1985, it was renamed again, and its predecessor can be traced back to the Shuntian Middle Agricultural School established in 1909, and in 1995, it participated in the establishment of the new Hebei Agricultural University.

Sichuan Forestry University:In 1959, it was established on the basis of the Department of Forestry of Sichuan Agricultural College, and was abolished in 1971, and some teachers returned to Sichuan Agricultural College for reconstruction.
