When Chen Xiangmei visited China in 1980, Deng Xiaoping pointed to Liao Chengzhi and ridiculed: Your

In December 1980, Chen Xiangmei, a world-famous leader of overseas Chinese and the widow of Chennault of the American Volunteer Brigade of the Chinese Air Force, received an invitation to visit China.

Reagan, who was the American ** at the time, was also very happy when he learned of the situation, and wrote a handwritten letter to ask Chen Xiangmei to take to China.

At noon on December 30,Chen Xiangmei and her entourage arrived in Beijing and were received by *** in the afternoon of the same day. Not only that, ** also personally hosted a banquet to receive them, and invited Liao Chengzhi and his wife to accompany them.

Speaking of which, Chen Xiangmei and Liao Chengzhi still have a layer of kinship.

Chen Xiangmei's maternal grandfather is Liao Fengshu, a famous diplomat in the ** period, Liao Fengshu and Liao Zhongkai are brothers, and Chen Xiangmei's mother Liao Xiangci is Liao Chengzhi's cousin, so according to the generation, Chen Xiangmei wants to call Liao Chengzhi an uncle.

As soon as I walked to the door of the banquet hall, ** instructed the people around me:

"Go ahead, I'll talk to Fat Boy's relatives. ”

"Fat Boy" is Liao Chengzhi's milk name, although as he grows older, the people around him don't scream anymore, but Liao Chengzhi's mother He Xiangning still often calls her son's milk name. To Chen Xiangmei's surprise, ** actually did not shy away from calling it in front of her, after all, her identity at this time was not only Liao Chengzhi's niece, but also the ** special envoy of the United States. But obviously, ** treats Chen Xiangmei as his own family.

**After sitting down, he took out a cigarette very casually to swallow the clouds and exhale the fog, which made Liao Chengzhi next to him very greedy and couldn't help but reach out to him for a cigarette.

"Your uncle is a 'strict wife'! ”

Pointing at Liao Chengzhi, he said jokingly to Chen Xiangmei, who was sitting on the side.

Chen Xiangmei was puzzled, she had been abroad for many years, probably unable to appreciate the humor of the Chinese, although her uncle's body was indeed sick, but she had never heard of any "tracheitis" before.

**Haha smiled, pointed to Liao Chengzhi's wife next to him, Jing Puchun and said:

"Your uncle is a 'strict wife'. Your aunt doesn't let him smoke more, only 3 cigarettes a day, so your uncle often steals my cigarettes to smoke. But I don't care, 3 packs a day. “

Chen Xiangmei suddenly realized.

During the past war years, Chen Xiangmei did not have many opportunities to meet her uncle, but she knew that her uncle was very talkative.

At that time, Liao Chengzhi had already participated in the revolution, and his whereabouts were erratic all day, and his mother Liao Xiangci told Chen Xiangmei:

"Your uncle is fighting guerrillas. ”

Chen Xiangmei met Liao Chengzhi a few times occasionally, but basically didn't talk about work, and Liao Chengzhi was just talking about other things at that time. Liao Chengzhi's father, Liao Zhongkai, was a veteran of the Kuomintang leftists, and his mother He Xiangning also participated in the revolution very early, so Liao Chengzhi had to run around with his parents in his childhood.

In 1913, after the failure of the Second Revolution, Liao Chengzhi fled to Japan with his parents and lived in the Valley of Gentle, where Liao Chengzhi spent a stable childhood.

According to many people's recollections, Liao Chengzhi was very naughty in his childhood.

Once, his parents took Liao Chengzhi to the toy store and bought a long-handled knife, he was so happy that he danced regardless of the place, and was immediately scolded by his mother, and the sad Liao Chengzhi followed his mother to take a rickshaw home, carelessly broke it stuck in the wheel, Liao Chengzhi immediately cried loudly, and after going back, his father slapped him on the ass a few times, and he woke up.

Another time, Liao Zhongkai and his wife had a treat at their home in Tokyo, and after eating, the couple sent the guests out, Liao Chengzhi saw the wine on the table, took it up and drank it all, and when he got drunk, he went to sleep in the cupboard where the futon was placed in the Japanese-style "tatami mat" house.

It wasn't until dark that the family found out that the child was missing, and hurriedly searched for it inside and out, just when the whole family was in a hurry, Liao Chengzhi rubbed his eyes and walked out of the cupboard.

However, it is precisely because of Liao Chengzhi's personality that he was able to always maintain optimism despite the difficulties he suffered after participating in the revolution.

On March 28, 1933, Liao Chengzhi, then secretary of the Party Group of the China Seafarers' Union, was betrayed by traitors and imprisoned in the Laozha patrol house in the French Concession of Shanghai.

After Liao Chengzhi**, if the enemy did not reveal anything during the interrogation process, he concluded that his identity had been exposed, and that his ** was instigated by the Kuomintang agents behind the scenes, and if the interrogation was correct, he would be extradited to the Kuomintang authorities.

Although Liao Chengzhi is only 25 years old this year, he has participated in the revolution for many years and has rich experience in struggle, and he knows very well in his heart that only by trying to reveal his ** news to his mother can he use his mother's huge social influence to help him get out of trouble.

So in prison, Liao Chengzhi pretended to compromise and asked the people in the patrol room to take him to his mother He Xiangning's residence.

As soon as he saw his son being handcuffed, He Xiangning** didn't know what the situation was, and immediately used social forces to publish the news of "Liao Zhongkai's son**" in the newspaper, which caused an uproar.

On March 29, 1933, He Xiangning sent a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek:

"Xiao Er Chengzhi was arrested by a foreign arrester in Shanghai last night, but he did not know where he was detained. Yu is willing to stay in prison with his son, but he does not want to stay in prison for foreigners, and asks to be sent to the Chinese realm, even if he dies, he is willing to be in the Chinese realm, not in the concession. Please reply. ”

Just after He Xiangning mobilized the social power, a large number of people with social prestige such as Song Qingling, Yang Xingfo, Liu Yazi, and Shen Junru also threw themselves into the rescue operation.

Liao Chengzhi was eventually acquitted.

In fact, Liao Chengzhi's 1933** was the fifth time he was imprisoned, and it was also the most dangerous one, he was already ready to sacrifice for the revolution when he was in prison, as evidenced by a poem inscribed in prison:

The cold wind sweeps the leaves and smoke in the desert, and the dry bones and desolate graves watch the soul.

The iron windows are rustling with snow and wind, and the stars of Emperor Jinling are falling with a smile.

The young man's neck bone is sonorous, and he bathes three times to be circumferential.

The heroic soul went straight to the Nine Heavens and invited his comrades to drink it.

When the Nine Rounds of Jade Jar were about to end, Fang caught the people and thieves and burned them.

There are also two comrades-in-arms with Liao Chengzhi**, namely Luo Dengxian, secretary of the Shanghai Executive Bureau of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Yu Wenhua, secretary, and Chen Geng on March 2.

"For the sake of sacrifice and ambition, dare to change the sun and the moon to a new day".

But fortunately, it was this ** experience that Liao Chengzhi later met his wife Jing Puchun.

Jing Puchun's father, Jing Hengyi, was a well-known educator and served as chairman of the National Education Commission after 1931. and He Xiangning, Liu Yazi and others are close friends.

When He Xiangning settled in Guangyufang, Shanghai, Jing Hengyi was her neighbor.

At the beginning of 1933, Jing Puchun went to Shanghai from his hometown in Zhejiang to visit his father, and occasionally visited He Xiangning's home, the kind-hearted Jing Puchun noticed that the elderly He Xiangning had no children to take care of, so he often went to help with some housework, He Xiangning liked this little girl very much, and called her "Apu", and Jing Puchun also called He Xiangning "aunt".

When Liao Chengzhi was pushed into his mother's house with handcuffs, Jing Hengyi, a neighbor on the side, noticed the situation and immediately woke up his daughter, and the two rushed to He Xiangning's house.

According to Pu Chun's later recollections:

"That night, I was already asleep. The maid from my aunt's (He Xiangning) family came knocking on my door, and my father told me to get up and go to her house together. We saw two French patrolmen with a young man in handcuffs, who was wearing an old suit. I took a closer look and realized that he was the "nephew" that my aunt had introduced to me. After a while, the young man was taken away. Before leaving, he whispered something in his aunt's ear. After leaving, my aunt said to my father, "I'm sorry for you, Mr. Jing, this is my son Liao Chengzhi, I didn't tell you before..."

This is also the first time Jing Puchun has seen Liao Chengzhi.

After being rescued by all parties, after Liao Chengzhi was released from prison, in order not to worry his sick mother, he deliberately lived by his mother's side for a period of time, that is, during the period of living at home, Liao Chengzhi gradually became familiar with Jing Puchun.

Liao Chengzhi was very grateful to Jing Puchun for taking care of his mother during the absence of his sister and his sister, and in the process of constantly getting along, the two gradually fell in love, and Jing Puchun also fell in love with the personable and talented Liao Chengzhi at first sight.

Although the two families are right, Jing Puchun's brother is against them being together, and the elder brother thinks that Liao Chengzhi is a Communist Party and may be arrested and killed at any time, for fear that his sister will be implicated, so the two of them are forbidden to interact.

In mid-July 1933, Jing Puchun was recalled to Zhejiang by his brother, and the two were strictly forbidden to come and go, and in August, Liao Chengzhi also received an order to go to the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet District.

That is, before leaving, Liao Chengzhi left three letters, one for Liu Yazi, one for his mother He Xiangning, and one letter for Jing Puchun.

"If you really love me, please wait for me for another two years ......”

In September 1933, Liao Chengzhi arrived in the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet District and served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet District Party Committee and the head of the Propaganda Department of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Federation of Trade Unions.

The road of revolution is tortuous and long, Liao Chengzhi has also experienced hardships, although so, but he has always been thinking about Jing Puchun in the distance, in 1936, after Liao Chengzhi followed the Red Army's Long March to northern Shaanxi, he immediately wrote several letters to his mother and Jing Puchun.

But the strange thing is that he received all the replies from his mother, but there was no reply from Jing Puchun.

This made Liao Chengzhi's heart couldn't help but feel a little lost.

It wasn't until later that his mother wrote to him and told him about Jing Puchun's situation, and Liao Chengzhi knew that the "Apu" he had in mind was still waiting for him.

In June 1937, Liao Chengzhi wrote a letter to his mother, and in addition to attaching a letter from ***, he also mentioned Jing Puchun in the letter

"In the letter to Sister Xing, please tell her to study hard in politics and study progressive ideas, and we will meet one day. I couldn't have imagined that she would be able to wait for me for so long, so I didn't ask in the previous letter. Please tell her that I am as good as ever, and she can rest assured that I am not negative to her. I only hope that you and Sister Xingduo will help her improve ideologically, wash away her former lady's spirit, and we can work together under the common goal in the future. ”

Although Liao Chengzhi and Jing Puchun have not been able to get in touch after many years, they have always been concerned about each other.

In 1938, according to the order of the Communist Party of China, Liao Chengzhi went to Hong Kong to organize the semi-public office of the Eighth Route Army in Hong Kong.

In more than four years, Jing Puchun has grown from a 16-year-old girl to an intellectual woman.

On the way, Liao Chengzhi couldn't wait to ask:

"Why didn't you write me back? ”

Liao Chengzhi later learned that she had not received a letter he had written to her a few years ago, and Jing Puchun realized that eighty percent of his letter was confiscated by his brother.

After not seeing each other for many years, the two are so infatuated, and marriage is naturally put on the agenda.

On January 11, 1939, Liao Chengzhi and Jing Puchun officially got married, and the wedding was held in the three castles of Weilison, Hong Kong.

Although it was during the war years, the wedding in Hong Kong was very grand, He Xiangning invited all the relatives in Hong Kong, and at the wedding, Song Qingling gave the bride two brand-new silk horses with a smile, and also hung a gold necklace around her neck.

After Liao Chengzhi got married, he didn't care about being warm with his wife, and soon devoted himself to work. In addition to taking care of her husband's health, Jing Puchun sometimes had to participate in the anti-Japanese salvation movement held in Hong Kong.

In the early morning of December 7, 1941, the Japanese army attacked Pearl Harbor, and the next day, the Japanese army attacked Hong Kong, and the situation in Hong Kong suddenly became uneasy. According to the ** decision, Liao Chengzhi immediately threw himself into rescuing Hong Kong cultural celebrities and democratic parties.

In order to escape the sabotage of the reactionaries, more than 800 democratic progressives and cultural celebrities gathered in Hong Kong at that time, including Ho Heung-ning, and before the Japanese army attacked Hong Kong, they had already sent spies to closely monitor these people, and ordered them to register with the Japanese army headquarters, otherwise they would be killed.

In just half a month, Liao Chengzhi not only completed the important task of contacting these people, but also arranged the retreat route in advance to help everyone transfer.

It was not until December 29 that Liao Chengzhi was successfully evacuated under the arrangement after completing the task, and was transferred to Lechang, Shaoguan and other places in Guangdong.

Only two years after marriage, Liao Chengzhi had to separate from his wife. Just when Jing Puchun was worried about her husband day and night, Liao Chengzhi had an accident.

On May 30, 1942, because of the betrayal of the traitor Guo Qian, Liao Chengzhi was in Lechang, Guangdong**, the enemy knew very well what Liao Chengzhi was, and after all the coercive means were exhausted, he tried to force him to submit through inducement, and even adopted a "beauty trick" against him, sending a young and beautiful woman to his prison to persuade him to go out of the mountain.

Despite this, during the few years he was imprisoned in prison, Liao Chengzhi remained unmoved, and during the few years he was imprisoned, he was ready to sacrifice at any time.

Liao Chengzhi always had an optimistic attitude, especially in the conspiracy against the Kuomintang authorities, Liao Chengzhi also created many cartoons, such an optimistic revolutionary spirit, but also infected everyone, the concentration camp guard Yao Baoshan was greatly encouraged, decided to go to Yan'an, before parting he found Liao Chengzhi, promised to send him a letter.

Soon, ** received a text message from him:

Yu Hu Gong:

I was in the so-called youth training center near Taihe on the third day of May**. It's hard to describe everything on paper. I hope you believe that Xiao Liao did not insult the glorious tradition until his death!

For the rest, if there is an opportunity, you can face it, and if you don't have this opportunity, forget it. I will shake hands with you here. Long live the Communist Party of China!

Liao Chengzhi also wrote in a letter to his mother and wife:

"If I can do it, I will do it, otherwise I don't have to be too forced. I just hope that you will take care of your health, and don't think about me again when you are unlucky! If the newborn child is alive, he can be named Jiying, which means to continue the heroic career. You have to raise the children well. ”

It was not until April 22, 1946 that Liao Chengzhi was rescued from prison by the party organization.

After being released from prison, Liao Chengzhi published a missing person notice on Xinhua **, and after Puchun learned about it, he immediately set off for Chongqing, and the husband and wife who had been separated for four years were reunited.

Perhaps it was because of the separation during the war years, after the founding of New China, Liao Chengzhi devoted a lot of love to his wife, and Jing Puchun became Liao Chengzhi's "life manager" and took care of him meticulously.

According to Liao Chengzhi's daughter Liao Ming, recalled:

"A father's love for his mother is sometimes not so much like his wife, but more like his beloved daughter. Sometimes the mother lies on the bed, and the father sits on the edge of the bed, quietly watching her, smiling slightly, gently coaxing, patting slowly. The lingering love that makes people tremble is indescribable. My mother was a little unwell, and when my father learned about it, he always immediately used a pair of angry eyes to "ask me about the guilt" (because I accompanied my mother the most). The look was very different from the usual witty and funny, and it was indelible in my memory. ”

As he gets older, Liao Chengzhi's physical condition is getting worse and worse.

In March 1980, after Liao Chengzhi went to the United States for heart bypass surgery, Jing Puchun became more concerned about her husband's physical health and began to strictly control her diet.

Liao Chengzhi has a hobby and likes to eat fatty meat, but since he had heart surgery, Jing Puchun no longer let her husband eat fatty meat.

Once invited to a banquet for foreign guests, accompanied by Pu Chun, Liao Chengzhi stared at the fat on the table and salivated, and subconsciously "adjusted the tiger from the mountain":

"Apu, who do you see coming? ”

Taking advantage of the gap between turning his head through Puchun, Liao Chengzhi quickly picked up chopsticks and picked up a large piece of fat and stuffed it into his mouth.

After Puchun realized that he had been fooled, he immediately turned his head and glared angrily, Liao Chengzhi giggled and laughed in front of everyone

"I didn't eat any fat just now. ”

The life of the husband and wife attracted bursts of laughter from the guests.

After Liao Chengzhi's surgery, the doctor advised him to quit smoking, so Jing Puchun began to strictly control her husband's smoking in his daily life.

But for an old man who has experienced the war years, it is too difficult to quit smoking, so Liao Chengzhi always tries to get a cigarette.

**At that time, I often talked about work with Liao Chengzhi, and over time, I often got cigarettes from him, and sometimes*** also joked:

"Fat boy, is my wife still in charge of you? I'm going to go to her and sue her. ”

Whenever this happens, Liao Chengzhi always smiles "hehe".

"There's no way, I'm addicted to smoking, I'm happy now, smoke one, it's okay. ”

I also know Liao Chengzhi's physical condition, so he is very strict, but occasionally there is "connivance", everyone understands each other, and they are happy. However, Liao Chengzhi's only worry is to let his wife know.

Once he was caught smoking, Jing Puchun crossed his waist with one hand and pointed at him to "scold":

"How dare you! ”

Whenever this happens, Liao Chengzhi has no choice but to "raise his hand and beg for mercy".

On June 10, 1983, Liao Chengzhi died of illness in Beijing.

In the 50 years of marriage between Liao Chengzhi and Jing Puchun, although they have experienced ups and downs, they have always been safe and happy, and they have been together until they are old, and this deep affection is touching.
