Israel used drones to carry out airstrikes on the Lebanese capital, killing Aluri, the "number two" of the Hamas group. Subsequently, on 6 January, Allah Lebanese fired rockets and missiles at Meron, the most important military base in northern Israel, damaging some of the base's facilities. Retaliation was immediately launched by the Israeli side. On January 7 local time, Israeli Defense Minister Gallant said in an interview that even if war with Allah in Lebanon is not Israel's current preferred option, the IDF's military operation will not back down if the issue with Allah cannot be resolved through negotiations. Gallant also stressed that Israel's actions are aimed at making it clear to everyone in the Islamic Resistance Front that any attack against Israel will be met with a strong response, and said that the IDF could replicate the situation in the Gaza Strip to Lebanon.
After visiting the Middle East, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that all parties should end this humanitarian crisis as soon as possible, and that the key to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict lies in the "two-state solution", and the United States opposes any plan that requires the evacuation of civilians from the Gaza Strip. Blinken stressed that the intensity and frequency of Israeli military operations against the Gaza Strip have diminished, so the international community should do everything possible to help Palestinian civilians return to the Gaza Strip. However, after a series of "pertinent" statements, Blinken was quickly countered by Israel. On January 8, local time, Israeli drones attacked the southern Lebanese city of Ilbet, and a moving car was hit by a missile fired by Israel, killing two people in the car. Subsequently, Allah Lebanon confirmed the incident, saying that Tawil, a senior commander of Allah forces, was killed in Israeli air strikes.
Allah also said that since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on October 7 last year, Tawil has organized a number of rocket attacks against Israel to express Allah's dissatisfaction with Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip. Allah's Lighthouse television station issued a statement after Tawil's death, saying that Tawil had made an important contribution to the establishment of the Lebanese Allah armed forces and that Allah would retaliate for it. Hamas mourned the death of Tawil in the attack and said that Israel's actions could not stop the advance of the Resistance Front and that "Zionism" must pay a price for its aggression. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited the Middle East and said he would do more to stop the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from spilling over and preventing it from turning into the next round of regional wars. However, as things stand, Blinken's visit was not a success.
The main purpose of Blinken's trip is to prevent the spillover of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and to try to ease tensions in the Middle East. However, at present, it seems that the spillover of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is inevitable, and the only difference is the size of the scale. This round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict is no longer confined to Palestinians and Israelis, but has spread to the surrounding areas. Tensions in the Red Sea region have been exacerbated by the imminent outbreak of large-scale clashes between Lebanese Allah and Israel, and the hijacking of shipping lanes by Yemen's Houthi rebels over the Red Sea waterway. The purpose of Blinken's visit is to confine the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to the Gaza Strip as much as possible, so as not to affect the US Middle East strategy. However, it is clear that Israel is not willing to cooperate. Although the war in the Gaza Strip has gradually subsided, Israel has announced that the military operation in the Gaza Strip has entered a new phase of low intensity, and the number of ground troops and air strikes will also be reduced. However, Israel has since turned its attention to Lebanon.
The killing of senior commanders has made it clear that the Allah forces will not rest on their laurels, after many large-scale wars between Allah and Israel. It will be interesting to see whether the border between Israel and Lebanese Allah forces will escalate from a simple border attack to a larger border clash next.
