In Avatar 3, the death of the villain of Avatar 2 is revealed
In James Cameron's original Avatar and Avatar 2, the Resource Development Authority (RDA) and its military mercenaries led by Colonel Miles Quarridge, played by Stephen Long, take on the role of the series' villain.
Despite losing to Jack Sully at the end of The Way of Water, Quaritch is alive and ready for a future return; And despite the fans' initial thoughts, he's not the only one.
Avatar 3 has confirmed the return of the villain from Avatar 2
Matt Gerald, who played Capral Lyle Winfret in Avatar: The Way of Water, confirmed on Instagram that his character will return in Avatar 3.
Gerald's post shows his character in the form of a Na'vi as follows:
Lyle Winfwlet's appearance in the upcoming third installment is surprising as some people believe he is dead.
At the end of Avatar 2, he was thrown off the ship and never seen again.
Winfret first appeared in 2008's Avatar, working alongside Colonel Miles Quaritch for the RDA.
Although his physical body died during the raid on the Tree of Souls, he was resurrected in the form of the Na'vi Avatar in The Way of Water, along with his commander and fellow mercenaries.
Trouble with the Sully clan in Avatar 3
Matt Gerald's Bad Guy isn't the only villain who is thought to be dead but has returned.
Brendan Cowell's Mick Scorsby will also return to Avatar 3, despite his character being played around by Tu Kun in Avatar 2 and losing an arm.
However, Scowsby, Colonel Miles Quarridge, RDA, and now Capral Lyle Winfret aren't the only obstacles that Jack and Neytilly's family will face in Avatar 3.
The film will also introduce the Na'vi Fire Clan, who have been described as "rivals" to the Sully Clan.
It is unknown whether these rivals will continue to be an obstacle for the Sully clan, especially after Avatar 2 established a family connection between Quaritch and Spider, which is sure to recur in Avatar 3.
It will be interesting to see how the spider's journey affects Quaritch and where Lyle Winfreyt will go from here.
