Hua Luogeng (November 12, 1910 – June 12, 1985) was a well-known mathematician, educator, social activist in China, and a member of the Communist Party of China. He was born in Jintan District, Changzhou, Jiangsu, and his ancestral home is Danyang, Jiangsu. Hua Luogeng's research interests include analytic number theory, matrix geometry, canonical groups, automorphic function theory, multi-complex function theory, partial differential equations, high-dimensional numerical integration, etc. He has made outstanding achievements in these fields, and his mathematical research achievements named after Fahrenheit include "Fahrenheit's theorem", "Fahrenheit's inequality", and "Fahrenheit-Wang method".

Hua Luogeng's success is inseparable from his self-learning spirit. After graduating from junior high school, he dropped out of school due to his family's financial difficulties, but he did not give up his study of mathematics. Through tenacious self-study, he completed all math courses in high school and lower college in five years. He even taught himself English, French, and German, and published many articles in foreign magazines.

Hua Luogeng's mathematical research work is closely integrated with production practice, and has made great contributions to the field of national economy. He creatively proposed the "optimization method" and the "overall planning method", which are widely used in the fields of industrial production and economic management. He has also worked to promote these methods, traveling across the country in an effort to turn technology into productivity.

Hua Luogeng is also an excellent educator and social activist. He has taught at Tsinghua University, served as the director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the vice president of the University of Science and Technology of China. He also served as a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and made outstanding contributions to China's democratic construction and scientific cause.

Hua Luogeng is an outstanding mathematician and educator, and his self-learning, innovative spirit and patriotic spirit are examples for us to learn from. His research results have not only made great contributions to the development of mathematics in China, but also had a profound impact on the international mathematical community.
