In April 1955, the Beijing Military Region was formally established, which marked the renaming of the North China Military Region as the Beijing Military Region. Li Xinliang was born in 1936 in Laiyang, Shandong, from an ordinary family. When he was a teenager, he was deeply influenced by the deeds of the People's Liberation Army, and he decided to join the People's Liberation Army. In 1953, 17-year-old Li Xinliang enlisted in the army and entered the Nanjing Engineering School to study. After graduation, he was assigned to the 41st Army Engineer Battalion as a platoon commander, and successively served as deputy company commander, battalion staff officer, and staff officer of the regimental headquarters training unit.
In 1973, Li Xinliang became the deputy commander of the 121st Division of the 41st Army. Later, when the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam broke out in 1979, Li Xinliang commanded the troops to rush to the front line of the battle, showing a calm and calm command style, and made outstanding contributions to the victory. After the war, he was valued at the top and was sent to study in the basic department of the Military Academy.
After graduating in 1981, Li Xinliang was promoted to the commander of the 121st Division and became a cadre at the level of a full division. In 1983, he was appointed commander of the Guangxi Military Region, and this promotion showed the high attention and trust of his superiors. In 1988, Li Xinliang became the deputy commander of the Guangzhou Military Region and received the rank of major general.
In 1993, he succeeded General Song Keda as political commissar of the Shenyang Military Region, and was promoted to lieutenant general in the same year. In 1995, Li Xinliang succeeded General Wang Ke and became the commander of the Shenyang Military Region. In 1997, Li Xinliang was transferred from the Shenyang Military Region to the post of commander of the Beijing Military Region, succeeding Li Laizhu and becoming the tenth commander of the Beijing Military Region.
A year later, in 1998, at the age of 62, Li Xinliang was promoted to general. During his tenure as commander of the Beijing Military Region, Li Xinliang commanded the military parade marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
On October 1, 1999, that is, the 50 th anniversary of the founding of our country, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) held a grand military parade, because it was the turn of the century, this military parade was called the "military parade of the century," and Li Xinliang was the commander-in-chief of the 50 th anniversary parade.
Under his command, a total of 42 ground teams and 10 air echelons, with a total of 11,000 people, were reviewed, and the parade was a complete success. Li Xinliang served as commander of the Beijing Military Region for a total of five years, and in 2002 he stepped down from his post and was replaced by General Zhu Qi as the 11th commander of the Beijing Military Region, and Li Xinliang immediately retired.
After retiring from the army, Li Xinliang served as a member of the Standing Committee of the 10 th National People's Congress and vice chairman of the Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, and continued to contribute his strength to the modernization of the motherland. Today, General Li Xinliang, who is in his eighties, is in very strong health.
