Architecture studio Populous has unveiled the design for its Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Saudi Arabia Qiddiya, which will host the 2034 World Cup.
Named after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the stadium is located in the Qiddiya entertainment district and will have a retractable roof and pitch.
On one side of the stadium will be a large retractable LED wall for live events, movies, and laser shows. When it is retracted, an opening is revealed, allowing the stadium's three-sided seating to overlook the 200-metre-high Tuwaig Cliff where the stadium is located.
This one can accommodate up to 4With a capacity of 50,000 people, it will be home to Saudi Arabia's professional league football clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, but the stadium will host a range of sports, entertainment and cultural events, including boxing, esports, meetings and theatrical performances.
The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium represents a quantum leap forward in stadium design and a new generation of digital innovation.

The stadium will have a stacked geometry covered in digital screens, and Populous said: "It will be the first fully integrated venue in the world that combines a retractable roof, slope and LED wall – an architectural innovation that offers unrivalled versatility and allows the space to be transformed into different modes of activity in a matter of hours." "The digital screen will cover the exterior of the geometric site, which appears to rise from the edge of a cliff in a series of staggered blocks. Around the stadium will be a tall tower of sports and entertainment venues, connected by an internal street, also covered with LED displays.
