SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States asked Boeing to develop a comprehensive action plan within 90 days to address its "systemic quality control issues" in a statement on Feb. 28.

According to the statement, Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Mike Whitaker said after a meeting with Boeing President and CEO Dave Calhoun that Boeing must commit to real and profound improvements, and that achieving fundamental change will require a sustained effort from Boeing's leadership.

"Boeing must revisit every aspect of its quality control process and ensure that safety is a guiding principle for the company," Whitaker added. ”

In a statement in response to the FAA on the same day, Calhoun said that Boeing will develop a comprehensive action plan with measurable standards to respond to the FAA's request.
