Surrounded by the steel and concrete of the city, do you also yearn for the fresh breath of nature? Through the renovation of their home, this post-80s Beijing couple no longer needs to wait for long-distance travel during holidays, and can immerse themselves in the embrace of nature every day when they return home. The couple loved the warmth and romance of modern French style. The designer uses light and shadow, structure and different materials to create a space that is transparent and rich in light and shadow, as if the sunlight between the leaves reveals different scenes over time.
This 137 four-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen and two-bathroom apartment type, which is transparent from north to south, is currently only occupied by two couples, but in the future, considering the living needs of babies and parents, the planning needs to take into account the lives of three generations and five people.
Sorting out problems and needs
The designer first sorted out the following problems and needs:
1. The original house lacks an entrance, and the space appears single after entering the door, lacking a sense of hierarchy and privacy.
2. The homeowner needs an independent study room to meet the needs of working from home.
3. There are many clothes, shoes and hats, so you need sufficient storage space, and plan your future storage needs in advance.
4. The main bathroom space is narrow, and it is hoped that the three-separation design will be realized.
Well-designed makeovers
According to the living habits and hobbies of the homeowner, the designer set out to carry out a careful transformation:
1. The entrance area is divided into the form of partition walls to form a migratory line to connect each space.
2. Set up a restaurant area behind the partition wall, and cooperate with the card seat and cabinet to meet the storage function of the restaurant.
3. The living room does not take TV as the core, but pays more attention to the interaction between family members.
4. The kitchen adopts the design of glass sliding door + sliding window to achieve a semi-open layout, which can effectively block oil smoke when cooking.
5. The layout of the master bedroom and the master bathroom was adjusted to achieve a three-separation design.
The unique design of the entrance.
The first glance at the door is full of the beauty of light and shadow. The partition wall is made of glass bricks combined with the wall, and the crystal clear texture is like an ice cube, which not only brings visual cooling, but also ensures the privacy of the room.
The wooden shelf in the middle of the partition wall, supported by a steel structure to increase stability, is an ideal place to place decorative paintings and greenery.
The partition wall not only redivides the spatial circulation, but also leads to two important public areas on the left and right, connecting the living room space to the right and the study space to the left.
The cosy and bright living room.
Sunlight is the highlight of this house, especially in the living room, which is the brightest and most pleasant place in the home. The elegant, bright style is a quick soothing sensation.
The soft decoration of the living room is mainly beige and wood, and the black accents add a sense of layering. Solid wood, fabric, linen, leather and other materials are mixed and matched, complementing the greenery, highlighting the harmony of quality and comfort.
The TV wall is left blank like a blank canvas, and the owner's favorite flower arrangements and plants become works of art, subtly showing off their individual creativity. A pocket door to the master bedroom is cleverly concealed and blends in with the wall.
Light and shadow play the role of the main theme in this space, and the vertical blinds are like soft light filters, showing different rhythms of light and shadow over time. Grille panels and sleek slabs give the walls a layered feel.
The background wall of the sofa is made of half-wall stitching in the same color, and the low off-white sofa is paired with a coffee table and carpet made of natural materials to create a lazy and comfortable atmosphere. The wireframe door leading to the second bedroom is in harmony with the simple plaster line on the wall.
The design of the booth in the restaurant.
The dining room is located behind the partition wall in the entrance and is connected to the living room and semi-open kitchen. The use of card seats, cabinets on both sides and wall cabinets above make full use of the space, to achieve both functional and beautiful storage design.
On one side of the dining table is a tall cabinet with a high and deep drawer basket to provide ample space for snacks and sundries. The combination of wood and olive green adds a retro touch to the home.
Exquisite design of the kitchen.
The kitchen entrance features concealable glass sliding doors, a wet bar and sliding windows, creating a ceremonial space for cooking.
The overall color palette continues the sober and elegant style of the living room, and the easy-to-clean and waterproof painted door panels and large flat tile walls reduce the difficulty of housework.
The main bathroom is designed with three separations.
The wall of the main bathroom extends outward, and the solid wood floor and the top of the wall made of microcement are treated at special angles to achieve the three-separation design of the main bathroom.
The Changhong glass partition separates the toilet room from the bathroom, maintaining a bright and transparent effect.
Master bedroom. The atmosphere of the master bedroom is softer and warmer, with a large area of white space on the wall, and the overall cleanliness and simplicity.
Multi-purpose room in the second bedroom.
The second bedroom is currently used as a multi-purpose activity room, and movable furniture is selected to facilitate later layout adjustments. The vintage coffee table becomes a decorative focal point in the corners.
Minimalist design of the study.
The study is located on the northwest side and is designed with pocket doors to free up more usable space. The minimalist-designed study retains a focused office environment, with plenty of shelves and custom cabinets providing ample storage space.
There are no extravagant decorations in this home, but through the change of light and shadow, it creates a wonderful and rich look and play living experience.
