On September 16, 1948, Su Yu led the East China Field Army to launch a fierce attack on Jinan.
After eight days and eight nights of fierce fighting, the city of Jinan was finally breached, and the Kuomintang troops in the city were either killed or captured, and even the supreme commander Wang Yaowu was captured alive.
It is worth noting that in this attack, Su Yu rarely formulated a siege slogan - "enter Jinan Mansion and capture Wang Yaowu alive". When attacking other cities, Su Yu did not formulate similar slogans.
This action gave people a deeper understanding of Su Yu's resourcefulness and determination.
1.The source of the feud between Su Yu and Wang Yaowu can be traced back to the establishment of the Red Tenth Army in 1934, when Xun Huaizhou led the Red Seventh Army and Fang Zhimin's Red Tenth Army to merge into the Red Tenth Army.
2.The establishment of the Red Tenth Army made Su Yu and Wang Yaowu form an indissoluble bond, and perhaps buried later grievances.
3.The grievances between Su Yu and Wang Yaowu began with the birth of the Red Tenth Army, and historical fate made them intersect.
4.The birth of the Red Tenth Army not only allowed Su Yu and Wang Yaowu to intersect, but also made them form a grudge, the source of which can be traced back to 1934.
After the establishment of the Red Tenth Army, Fang Zhimin served as the chairman, Xun Huaizhou served as the commander of the 19th Division, the 20th Division was led by Liu Chouxi, who was also the commander of the Red Tenth Army, and the remaining 21st Division was in charge of Hu Tiantao.
Maybe everyone doesn't know much about Hu Tiantao, and there is a reason for this. Although Hu Tiantao is a division commander, he is low-key, sacrificed early, and did not leave **, so there are relatively few descriptions of him.
It wasn't until Wang Yaowu's memoirs that we found out about his final sacrifice.
Although the Red Tenth Army had only more than 10,000 people after its birth, which was not even comparable to the number of an army of the Kuomintang, and there was a lack of materials, they needed nothing, they could not even eat enough, and their clothes were very thin, but they still had a firm belief.
In the face of the encirclement of **, they did not hesitate to pick up guns and confront **. However, in the face of more and more enemies, their strength gradually weakened, but they still held out.
In the cold winter of the end of 1934, due to the lack of warm clothing, a large number of soldiers of the Red Tenth Army were frostbitten, and their combat effectiveness was greatly affected.
In Tanjiaqiao, Anhui Province, they were surrounded by **, although they struggled to break through, but they suffered heavy sacrifices, and they could only continue to advance in the southwest direction, and ** chased after them.
In January 1935, they originally planned to break through, but unfortunately they were intercepted by Wang Yaowu's troops, and the breakthrough failed.
Knowing that many Communist Party backbones had been captured, Wang Yaowu was overjoyed and went to the prison in person, wanting to see with his own eyes what those who had been fighting against them for a long time looked like.
He had met Hu Tiantao in prison, but the scene in front of him was completely different from what he had expected.
The Communist division commander held a higher position than his brigade commander, but he was in rags, his face was covered with mud, and his shoes were so tattered that he almost exposed his toes.
He looked more like a beggar than a division commander.
After seeing the items he was carrying, Wang Yaowu fell silent. Hu Tiantao's item only had a worn-out bag, and inside the bag was only a broken porcelain bowl.
According to Hu Tiantao, the bowl was given to him by his mother, telling him that if he couldn't get by, he would go to the street to beg for food.
Compared with Brigade Commander Wang Yaowu's neat and warm equipment, the division commander in front of him looked more plain.
Although in comparison, he seems to be doing better than the division commander. However, after seeing Hu Tiantao, he still insisted on the procedure of persuasion, but Hu Tiantao was tired of hearing it.
He was loyal to the Communist Party and could never betray it.
No matter how Wang Yaowu asked, Hu Tiantao remained silent or sternly refused. In the end, Wang Yaowu proposed to take him out to find someone. What they found was Xunhuaizhou, who died heroically on the battlefield.
Wang Yaowu knew nothing about Xun Huaizhou's image, but Hu Tiantao was able to immediately identify his body. They found Xun Huaizhou's body on a small dirt bag, but he had no clothes and was lying naked on the cold snow.
After Wang Yaowu heard this, he was very moved. He asked Hu Tiantao why the sacrificed soldiers had no clothes on them, Hu Tiantao was silent for a while, and slowly replied: "For the sake of other soldiers to survive." ”
The Winter Cotton Clothes of the Red Tenth Army were far from sufficient, and the soldiers could only leave the clothes of their sacrificed comrades to keep themselves warm, which was not only a helpless move, but also their firm belief, and they did not want their comrades to lie naked on the battlefield.
Despite the pain in their hearts, they must still act, in order to fight for victory, in order to destroy more enemies. Wang Yaowu understood this feeling, and he was not willing to participate in this civil war, but as a soldier, he must obey the orders of his superiors, even if it means paying the price of his life.
After the battle, he buried these heroic warriors with his own hands as a way to alleviate the guilt in his heart.
Hu Tiantao knew Wang Yaowu's thoughts well, and hoped to end the matter happily. However, Wang Yaowu could not meet his request, so he brought Hu Tiantao to Yu Jishi, the commander of Zhejiang's security.
Unlike Wang Yaowu, Yu Jishi did not have a favorable opinion of the Communist Party and was a man of Chiang Kai-shek's counter-revolutionary faction through and through. After countless tortures, Yu Jishi was never able to get useful information from Hu Tiantao.
He finally made a cruel decision to kill Hu Tiantao, as well as Fang Zhimin, Liu Chouxi and others. They all died heroically in this year, giving their lives for the revolutionary cause.
Su Yu narrowly escaped death in the breakout of the Red Tenth Army and became one of the few survivors. Later, he received a difficult task, that is, to attack Jinan, and the ** general who guarded Jinan was Wang Yaowu.
This battle was not only a military operation, but also the end of the feud between Su Yu and Wang Yaowu.
On September 16, Su Yu commanded the troops to launch an attack on the city of Jinan, and raised the slogan: "Conquer Jinan Mansion and capture Wang Yaowu alive." This was one of the few siege campaigns in which Su Yu personally drafted a slogan.
After 8 days of fierce fighting, the city of Jinan was finally breached. Wang Yaowu tried to resist to the end, but some of the ** in Jinan City chose to revolt, which put him in the predicament of being attacked by the enemy, and was finally defeated and captured.
In the post-war statistics, the troops led by Su Yu successfully annihilated more than 80,000 defenders of Jinan**, and more than 20,000 people chose to revolt, as well as 23 senior Kuomintang officers**, including Wang Yaowu.
Su Yu punished Wang Yaowu and avenged the old chiefs.
Epilogue: Wang Yaowu has foreseen his end since the time of the civil war. As an enemy of the people, he is bound to fail. Because the revolutionary will of the Communists is incomparably strong, and this will cannot be defeated!
Our happy life today is all exchanged for the lives of the martyrs. We should remember them, always carry on their legacy, never forget our original aspirations, and serve the country and the people.
