Urgent, in short supply of pilots!

Mondo Military Updated on 2024-02-01

After three years of the epidemic, the plane was lying on its stomach.

The pilots had nothing left to fly, and the flight personnel, which were originally in short supply, seemed to be surplus all of a sudden.

As a result, pilots are no longer busy, foreign pilots have returned to China, some flight students have been waiting for the call of the airline for a long time, and some students have just been admitted to the ...... unemployed

In short, pilots are suddenly no longer in demand!

However, with the recovery of the civil aviation industry, especially in European and American countries, airline pilots have begun to be in short supply again.

Even Cathay Pacific pilots in Hong Kong are particularly scarce.

Cathay Pacific said earlier that it had cancelled flights because of the flu season in December and pilots were absent more than expected due to illness.

Between December 29 last year and January 1 this year, Cathay Pacific cancelled at least 55 flights.

From January 2 to 7 this year, at least 34 flights were cancelled, involving flights between Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Dubai and other flights.

In fact, there is a huge shortage of Cathay Pacific pilots.

According to sources, Cathay Pacific needs at least more than 3,000 pilots if it is to fully recover, but there are only more than 2,000 at present.

Paul Weatherilt, Chairman of the Hong Kong Airlines Cabin Crew Association, said:

Cathay Pacific is currently recruiting 800 pilots, but Cathay Pacific is not on track to recruit and train co-pilots and captains.

He estimates that it will take two to four years for Cathay Pacific to train pilots before it returns to pre-pandemic levels.

Brother Yi thinks:

Cathay Pacific is so short of pilots, even flight cadets.

To this day, many domestic flight students are still waiting for the airline to notify them of their employment.

Cathay Pacific has already recruited flight attendants in the mainland, and it should also recruit pilots in China, after all, many of Cathay Pacific's pilots have behaved in a disgraceful manner amid the turmoil over the legislative amendments.

If Cathay Pacific is serious about saying goodbye to the past, it should recruit a lot of mainland pilots.

Now it's up to Cathay Pacific to act!
