The Eight-Nation Coalition refers to an international military alliance formed in 1900 by the British Empire (i.e., the United Kingdom), the United States of America (i.e., the United States), the French Third Republic (i.e., France), the German Empire (i.e., Germany), the Russian Empire (i.e., Tsarist Russia), the Japanese Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Kingdom of Italy. Out of different interests, these countries jointly launched an armed intervention operation against the Qing Dynasty in China, which is known as the "Eight-Nation Allied War of Aggression against China".
The direct trigger of this war was the siege of foreign embassies during the Boxer Rebellion, in which the foreign powers sent troops into China on the pretext of protecting the safety of their own citizens and embassy personnel in Beijing and its surrounding areas, and eventually occupied the city of Beijing, forcing the Qing to sign the "Xinchou Treaty" that humiliated the country.
The list of specific countries is as follows:
1.United Kingdom.
2.United States.
3.France.
4.Germany.
5.Russia.
6.Japan.
7.The Austro-Hungarian Empire (then a dual monarchy of Austria and Hungary).
8.Italy.
It should be noted that in addition to the above eight countries, in actual military operations, other countries have sent troops to participate in them, but the core strength and decision-making of the eight-nation alliance mainly come from these eight powers.
