On the afternoon of February 27, 2023, I finished reading the book Cognitive Awakening and started writing daily reflections. Can you imagine? It took me more than two hours to write 383 words.
When I was studying, the most painful thing for me was writing essays. But in order to grow and change, I had to pick up the pen again.
I've been writing like this for almost a year, and I've written about 450,000 words. These texts are rarely released to the public, and they all lie quietly in my flome notes. If you're going to ask me, what's changed? My heart is no longer anxious, irritable, and irritable, my emotions have become more stable and peaceful, and I am more full of expectations for the future.
From the "writing rookie" who could only rack his brains to squeeze out a few words at the beginning, to the "writing expert" who can now write and think at his fingertips. At that moment, I had achieved a breakthrough in myself. I think that in order to become better, in addition to writing consistently, it is also very important to export to the outside world. Through output, we can identify where we are lacking, get feedback, and drive growth. Maybe sometimes it lacks some logical rigor, but when I hit the keyboard, the characters came to life and scrambled to jump on the computer screen, and I enjoyed the process.
As for why it must be released to the public, I think there are two main benefits.
1. Develop self-confidence.
The author of Cognitive Awakening once wrote in an article: "Because 'writing' is internal, it can only make itself better;Writing, on the other hand, is external, and it can produce valuable work that makes others better, and in doing so, gains personal influence. "Looking back on my writing experience in the last year, it has really changed a lot for me, especially my self-confidence.
Yesterday, I posted my first book review on Get. The moment I clicked "Post", I felt like I had broken free and no longer cared about the disregard, disdain, or ridicule of others. From this moment on, I want to show the deep self in my heart that I once dared not show, bravely express my feelings, no longer have any worries, and move forward bravely. Perhaps, in the process, I will discover a new version of myself.
I admire the people who change every day, it takes a lot of perseverance and courage. In fact, for me, it is also changing day by day, but I am looking inside and not outside. I believe that I also have the ability to change every day, but I will never change it for the sake of changing it, I think that an article is not written but changed, the revision takes much longer than the time it takes to write, and the quality of the content is more important than the quantity of publications. I will focus on the depth of the content and spend more time and energy on topic selection and thinking to ensure that the content I output can touch me and solve the most pressing real-world problems of myself or others. At the same time, I will polish the article with my heart, although I can't make it perfect, but strive for better.
2. Get feedback.
The famous cognitive psychologist Stephen Pinker once said: "The difficulty of writing lies in the unfolding of reticular thoughts through tree-like syntax into linear words." "If you want to write valuable articles that can bring gain and satisfaction to others, you must continue to export valuable articles to the outside world. Because the biggest advantage to the outside world is that you can get positive feedback, the amount of impressions represents whether it is in line with the tonality of the platform and whether it is worthy of being recommended; The number of reads, likes, favorites and comments represent whether readers like and recognize them. The performance of the article is good or bad, and through these feedbacks, you can find out the reasons for it, so that you can do better next improvement.
An essay is good at what it can do, be informative, thought-provoking, and resonate with the reader. Only by thinking from the user's point of view and revealing my true feelings from the heart, I believe that with time and the persistence of extraordinary people, I will be pleased with my current decision in the future.
Reading and writing are not separated, reading is input, writing is output, only input is not output, never know what your real situation is, external output can find shortcomings, make yourself better.
