Calcium chloride is used in many industries, such as printing and dyeing industry, concrete, snow melting agent, sewage treatment, etc. There are many chemical raw materials used in sewage treatment, such as caustic soda and soda ash, but in fact, calcium chloride can also be used in water treatment.
1) Sewage treatment agent: pH neutralization, pre-conditioning of acidic sewage pipe network, in order to prolong the service life of the pipe network and save investment costs.
2) Sterilization and disinfection: Chloride ions after calcium chloride dissolved in water have the effect of sterilization and disinfection. Calcium chloride is an inorganic compound, a salt composed of chlorine and calcium, which is a typical ionic halide. Chloride ions can sterilize and disinfect water, kill harmful bacteria, and weaken the toxicity of water.
3) Displacement: Calcium ions can replace metal cations in the water, especially in wastewater treatment processes containing metal cations. Calcium ions can replace the metal cations contained in the water, separate and eliminate toxic heavy metal ions, and precipitate calcium ions, which has a good disinfection and purification effect. In order to reduce the damage of metal cations and some highly toxic substances to the biochemical section, calcium chloride is used to remove these toxic and harmful substances in the pretreatment process, and if this substance is used in the effluent section, chloride ions play a sterilizing role, and calcium ions generate calcium hydroxide precipitates and are removed by precipitation.
In general, calcium chloride can be used in water treatment because the calcium ions contained in calcium chloride can precipitate with most of the anions, which can replace harmful substances, and chloride ions can oxidize ions to purify wastewater.
