New Year's goods are not closed
Samsung has now launched the Samsung Galaxy S24 phone, which includes the standard-sized Galaxy S24, the larger Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, and the ultra-high-end Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
All three devices will be among Samsung's best-ever phones, and possibly even the best, and the standard Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 have quite a few things in common.
We will compare what we know about the iPhone 15 with what we know about the Samsung Galaxy S24.
In terms of design, the iPhone 15 looks a lot like Apple's other recent iPhones, except for the slightly curved edges and a color-infused rear glass panel. It has a size of 1476 x 71.6 x 7.8 mm, weighs 171 grams, and is available in black, blue, green, yellow, or pink. It also has an IP68 rating, which means it's dust- and water-resistant, and the iPhone 15 also marks the first Apple smartphone to feature a USB-C port instead of the company's proprietary Lightning port.
The iPhone 15 has an excellent 6A 1-inch Super Retina XDR display, but its refresh rate is limited to static 60Hz. However, the phone comes with Apple's Dynamic Island.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 has smaller bezels and flatter edges than its predecessor. It has a glass back, a metal frame, and a small hit on the screen, while the rear camera is arranged differently than the iPhone, with no noticeable shell around.
Like the iPhone 15, it also has an IP68 rating and measures 147 x 706 x 7.6 mm and a weight of 167 grams, so the dimensions are also similar. Like almost all Android phones, it also has a USB-C port, and the Samsung Galaxy S24's colors include Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Purple, Amber Yellow, Emerald Green, Sandstone Orange, and Sapphire Blue.
As for the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S24, it boasts 62-inch AMOLED display (1080 x 2340 pixels) and variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. This beats the iPhone 15's static 60Hz refresh rate, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 also has a brighter screen of 2,600 nits, while the iPhone 15 has a screen brightness of 2,000 nits.
The iPhone 15 has a dual rear camera that includes a 48MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, with a 12MP lens on the front. The iPhone 15 uses the middle 12 pixels of full-frame to provide an optically enlarged image.
In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S24 comes with a full-fledged 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, as well as a 50MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view.
As a result, the Samsung Galaxy S24 benefits from an additional camera, although the versatility isn't as high considering the iPhone 15's 2x optical quality cropping. Both phones come with a 12MP ** camera.
However, the Samsung Galaxy S24 does boast more AI skills focused on photography, such as the ability to move** people, or remove them entirely, as well as expand the background of the image.
Apple's iPhone 15 features the A16 Bionic, which comes with a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core engine, all powered by 6GB of RAM.
The iPhone 15 is a super-fast smartphone, and while the A16 Bionic isn't as fast as the **A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, it provides plenty of power for everyday tasks as well as gaming.
The A16 Bionic is superior to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is the chipset that powers the Samsung Galaxy S23.
As for the Galaxy S24, it comes with Qualcomm's new (and even more powerful) Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. In any case, both the Samsung Galaxy S24 and the iPhone 15 are very powerful phones, with the Galaxy S24 having 8GB of RAM, which is higher than the 15GB of the iPhone 6.
The iPhone 15 has a 3,349mAh battery that can last all day when used casually. Charging-wise, you can charge your iPhone 30% to 50% in 50 minutes (i.e., the same as the iPhone 14) when using the wired method, and the phone offers 15W wireless charging speeds.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 comes with a 4,000mAh battery along with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Samsung claims that it has up to 25 hours of web browsing battery life, which sounds like a pretty impressive battery life.
If you already use or love Apple's iOS operating system, then the iPhone 15 is the natural choice. Again, if you are an Android loyalist, then the Galaxy S24 will almost certainly meet your expectations. Overall, the iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24 are very similar smartphones.
