On the evening of February 3, the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra completed the second ** meeting to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth at the Hangzhou Grand Theatre Opera House. Dutch-Maltese maestro Laurence Raines and internationally renowned violinist Lu Siqing jointly completed the "Double Cloth" performance covering Bruckner and Bruch.
First up was Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor (op.).26)。Bruch's Violin Concerto is one of the most performed violin concertos after Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, with its beautiful melody, rich orchestration and novel form.
* At the meeting, Lu Siqing was as elegant and self-contained as ever, and under the gentle rolling of the timpani, he opened a dreamlike brilliance on the violin, which was subtle but not weak, diffuse but not dispersed. The orchestra and Lu Siqing's solo performances alternate, the full notes come out in the big opening and closing, and then arrive at the singing adagio, the violin's affectionate narration, the orchestra's harmonies, the strings are scattered between the eight winds, and the stars hang down in the finale, the small and thin sound flows float on the orchestra's unison with Lu Siqing's arms and wrists, and finally the bold first theme is strongly presented in the epilogue, and the sound speed is stacked and goes straight to the brilliant and powerful end.
The delicate tenderness across Bruch is followed by Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 in C minor. Bruckner called Buyi a "playful maid", which is not very long, and is considered the smallest of Bruckner's symphonies. Interestingly, while this is Bruckner's first symphony, it is also his last symphony, with revisions spanning almost the entire length of his career, and Hang's interpretation of the original Linz version takes fans back to the very beginnings of Bruckner's composition.
Conductor Lawrence Rainis is working with the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time, and there is a natural difference in texture between Bruch's violin concerto in the first half and Bruckner's symphony in the second half, the former is delicate to the bone, and the latter is as strong as a mountain. An excellent conductor is as good as water, soft when it is soft, and strong when it is strong. The plasticity and comprehension of Hang Ai's professional ability allow Rainis to have more room to play in melody scheduling, polishing the work is also polishing the band, and tapping the depth of the work is also tapping the potential of the band.
As the second conductor of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra's 2024 Bruckner Project, Reinness is not a German-Austrian conductor, but he is highly regarded in the industry for conducting authoritative performances of symphonic works by Mahler, Bruckner and Wagner. At the scene, when Bruckner's melody sounded, Renis's conductor changed the delicate and gentle nature of Bruch in the first half, and gradually entered the self-game of force and force. The mellow timbre performed by the orchestra in the first movement makes the audience feel like stepping barefoot on a vast land, facing the rising sun, and the pride of the day spreads spontaneously. The second movement adagio is solemn and serene, and the miracles pass by slowly, illuminating the universe; The scherzo in the third movement has the agility of the countryside, and the pushing of the melody is like the soul's self-questioning; And the sonata-like final movement, full of sonorous splendor piled up into an overflowing glow, between square inches, the universe is beginning to appear. When the conductor and the orchestra finished the last note together, they turned to face the audience on stage, and the thunderous applause was the best memorial to Bruckner.
