Zhao Yun (?) —229), Zilong, a native of Zhending County, Changshan County (now Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province), was a famous general of the Shu Han Dynasty in the late Eastern Han Dynasty.
Zhao Yun is eight feet tall and has an extraordinary bearing, and was elected by the county in his early years and led the volunteers to defect to the warlord Gongsun Zhan.
Gongsun Chan asked Zhao Yun: "I heard that people in the state want to attach themselves to Yuan Shao, why are you the only one who can get lost?" Zhao Yun said: "The world is in turmoil, I can't see who is the master, the people are in danger, our county has decided to follow the people who can implement benevolent government, not to alienate Yuan Shao and favor the general." From then on, he followed Gongsun Chan to fight everywhere.
At that time, the ancestor Liu Bei was also attached to Gongsun Zhan, so he met Zhao Yun and formed a very deep friendship. Later, Zhao Yun's elder brother died, and he said goodbye to Gongsun Zhan and went to mourn.
The ancestor knew Zhao Yun's ambition very well, and knew that he would not come back after leaving this time, so he was reluctant to let go of his hand. Zhao Yun said goodbye to the ancestor and said, "I can't do anything that violates morality after all. ”
A few years later, the ancestor defected to Yuan Shao, Zhao Yun heard the news and took the initiative to go to meet him, and the two met again, and since then Zhao Yun has been following the ancestor around.
After Cao Cao stabilized the north, he led his army south to attack Jingzhou, but the ancestor was unable to resist and fled south. Cao Jun pursued day and night and reached Changbanpo in Dangyang County.
At that time, the situation was critical, and the ancestor had to leave his wife and children behind, and only escaped with dozens of horses. In the chaos, Zhao Yun also disappeared. Someone said to the ancestor that Zhao Yun must have gone north to Cao Cao, and the ancestor directly hit him with a halberd and said, "Zilong will not abandon me." ”
Soon, Zhao Yun hugged the young son of the ancestor Liu Chan, protected the wife of the ancestor and Mrs. Gan, and returned safely.
After the Battle of Chibi, the ancestor led the army into Yizhou, and Zhao Yun was ordered to enter Sichuan for reinforcements, and went to Chengdu along the waterway to complete the siege.
After the main attack on Chengdu, Zhao Yun was named the general of the Yi army. **During the reward, some people proposed to give the houses in Chengdu and the mulberry fields outside the city to the generals.
Zhao Yun said to the ancestors: "Huo Quai, a famous general of the Western Han Dynasty, once said that the Xiongnu were not eliminated, and they could start a family. Today's ** is not the only one, and it is not yet time to be stable. When the world is peaceful, it is appropriate to let everyone return to their hometowns to cultivate the fields. The people of Yizhou have just encountered war, and they should return their houses and land to them, and let them live and work in peace and contentment before they can win the hearts of the people. The Prophet immediately adopted it.
After the first lord seized Yizhou, he immediately began to compete with Cao Cao for Hanzhong, the northern gate of Yizhou. Cao Cao personally led a large army to fight and brought a large amount of grain.
General Huang Zhong thought that he could take advantage of this opportunity to seize grain, and Zhao Yun agreed. Huang Zhong did not return beyond the agreed time, and Zhao Yun led dozens of horsemen to meet him, but happened to encounter Cao Cao's army.
At the critical moment, Zhao Yun did not panic, and attacked the Cao army array again and again, fought and retreated, and successfully returned to the barracks. After returning, he found that a subordinate general was injured and surrounded by the Cao army, and Zhao Yun attacked the Cao army again and successfully rescued the general.
Cao's army chased after him, and when he reached the front of the camp, the guards were ready to close the door and refuse. Zhao Yun was unusual, ordered the gate of the camp to be opened, and let the troops die down, Cao Jun saw this situation and suspected that there was an ambush, so he retreated.
Zhao Yun saw the opportunity and ordered the drumming to be beaten, and for a time the drum sounded to the sky, and at the same time ordered the soldiers to shoot with bows and crossbows.
The next day, the ancestor came to Zhaoyun's camp to check the battle, and couldn't help but admire: "Zilong is really brave." ”
After the Eastern Wu attacked Jingzhou and killed Guan Yu, the ancestor was very angry and decided to send troops to fight.
Zhao Yungui persuaded: "* It's Cao Cao, not Sun Quan, destroy Cao Wei first, and Eastern Wu will naturally obey." Now that Cao Cao is dead, his son Cao Pi usurped the throne and should take advantage of the anger of the people to capture Guanzhong (present-day central Shaanxi Province) first. Cao Wei should not be left alone, but should attack Eastern Wu first. Once the war with Soochow began, it was difficult to stop. ”
However, the ancestor who was full of revenge did not listen to the advice and insisted on going to war, which led to defeat, and the vitality of Shu was greatly damaged.
After the death of the first master, Zhao Yun followed Zhuge Liang to participate in the Northern Expedition many times and made many meritorious achievements. In 229, a generation of famous generals Zhao Yun died of illness.
Zhao Yun followed his ancestors for 30 years, rarely defeated, and was known as the "victorious general", and he was good at government affairs, benevolent, and widely recognized by later generations.
Zhang Zhao (156-236), whose name is Zibu, was a native of Pengcheng County, Xuzhou (now Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province), and was a heavy minister of Sun Wu during the Three Kingdoms period.
Zhang Zhao was very studious when he was young, his talent grew rapidly, and he was also good at official writing. When he became an adult, Zhang Zhao was promoted to filial piety, but he did not accept it.
Xuzhou Thorn Shi Taoqian admired Zhang Zhao and wanted to use him, but he was also rejected. Tao Qian thought that Zhang Zhao looked down on him, locked him up, and rescued Zhang Zhao from his friends before he was released. Zhang Zhao did not hold grudges, and after Tao Qian died of illness, he also wrote a eulogy to him.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the world was in turmoil, and many people in Xuzhou took refuge south of the Yangtze River, and Zhang Zhao also went south. At that time, Sun Ce, the founder of Sun Wu, was establishing a foundation in Jiangnan, admired Zhang Zhao's talent and learning, and immediately entrusted him with important tasks.
Sun Ce trusted Zhang Zhao very much, personally visited his mother, treated him like a close friend of the same generation, and entrusted him with military and political affairs. At that time, many people often praised Zhang Zhao, but they didn't mention Sun Ce, Zhang Zhao was afraid of suspicion and was in a dilemma.
After Sun Ce found out, he laughed and said: "Back then, Guan Zhong was the prime minister in Qi State, and Duke Huan of Qi respected him as his middle father, but everyone in the world knows that Duke Huan is the overlord. Now that Zhang Zhaoxiande is used by me, isn't this credit mine? ”
Sun Ce was seriously injured in assassination, and before his death, he entrusted his younger brother Sun Quan to Zhang Zhao. After Sun Ce's death, Zhang Zhao led hundreds of officials to support Sun Quan, allowing everyone to take their own positions and stabilize the situation.
Sun Quan did not ask about political affairs because of his sadness, and Zhang Zhao said: "As a successor, it is important to be able to inherit the career of our ancestors and carry it forward. If there is turmoil and thieves are rampant today, how can a general be in bed and grieve and indulge his personal feelings like an ordinary person? After speaking, he personally helped Sun Quan to get on the horse and lined up to inspect, and everyone felt that they had something to rely on.
Zhang Zhao has a rigorous personality, does not smile, and repeatedly speaks out. Sun Quan likes to hunt and often rides a horse to shoot tigers, and once encountered a tiger pounced on the saddle and grabbed the saddle. Zhang Zhao's expression changed greatly after he found out, and he said to Sun Quan: "Why did the general do this? As a king, shouldn't you control the heroes and drive the sages? Or do you compare strength and speed with beasts? If there is danger, will it not be ridiculed by the whole world? ”
Sun Quan hurriedly apologized, but instead of giving up his hunting habit, he built a tiger shooting car with a square hole in the car, and he sat in the car and shot through the square hole. Although Zhang Zhao tried his best to advise, Sun Quan smiled and did not answer.
Zhang Zhao is the head of the civil servants all the year round and is highly respected, but because of his stubborn personality and daring to give direct advice, Sun Quan respects him and stays away from him. The hundred officials elected Zhang Zhao as the prime minister twice, but Sun Quan did not approve it on the grounds that he was worried that he would be too tired, but he was actually afraid that Zhang Zhao would not be able to handle interpersonal relationships well. Zhang Zhao knew that Sun Quan was unwilling to reuse himself, and resigned shortly after he became emperor.
After Zhang Zhao resigned, he always cared about the court situation. In 232, Gongsun Yuan, who had seized most of Liaodong (most of present-day Liaoning Province), suddenly sent an envoy to Sun Quan to ask for a vassal, and Sun Quan was so excited that he immediately prepared to send an envoy to appoint Gongsun Yuan as the king of Yan.
When Zhang Zhao found out, he tried his best to dissuade him, believing that Gongsun Yuan was not sincere and obedient, and the messenger sent would definitely be killed. The two argued repeatedly, but no one could convince anyone, Sun Quan was really unbearable, with a knife in his hand, angrily wanting to kill Zhang Zhao.
Zhang Zhao looked at Sun Quan for a long time and said: "The minister knows that his words are difficult to be adopted, but the minister still insists on his opinion because he remembers the empress dowager's dying entrustment. After speaking, he cried bitterly, and Sun Quan also threw down the knife in his hand and cried with Zhang Zhao.
Sun Quan eventually sent an envoy to Gongsun Yuan, but Zhang Zhao was angry that his opinion was not adopted, and from then on he said that he was ill. Sun Quan was angry, and sent someone to block Zhang Zhao's door with soil, saying that he would never go out; Zhang Zhao sealed the door with soil at home, saying that he would never come out again.
Later, Gongsun Yuan really killed the messenger, Sun Quan knew that he was wrong, and sent people to apologize many times, but Zhang Zhao was gone. Sun Quan was annoyed and angry, and ordered someone to set fire to the door, trying to scare Zhang Zhao out, but Zhang Zhao closed all the windows in his house instead.
Sun Quan had to order someone to extinguish the fire, and he kept standing outside the door and waiting, Zhang Zhao's sons helped Zhang Zhao out, and the two reconciled.
Zhang Zhao is very talented, but he is too serious, and there is no one in Sun Wu ** from top to bottom who is not afraid of him.
In 236, Zhang Zhao, who had been stubborn all his life, died of illness at the age of eighty-one.
