According to Reuters, on the 21st local time, British Telecom won 27.5 billion pounds (about 2.5 billion yuan)**, the British Telecom Tower** was given to an American hotel group, and this London landmark will be transformed into a luxury hotel in the future.

According to the report, the acquisition of the BT Tower was by MCR Hotel Group, the third-largest hotel operator in the United States, which owns and operates 150 hotels and once transformed the abandoned terminal of New York's JFK Airport into a luxury hotel. MCR Hotels & Resorts said that the renovation design of the telecom tower has not yet been completed, but due to the listed structure, the renovation work will be strictly constrained.

Located in London's West End, the BT Tower is 177 metres tall and features a revolving restaurant on its 34th floor, overlooking the city of London, which takes 22 minutes to rotate around. Officially opened in 1965, the tower was initially used to receive transmission signals and was an important part of London's network infrastructure, but with the upgrade of digital technology, the microwave antennas used to transmit signals were removed more than a decade ago.

In recent years, the 360-degree LED display on the top of the telecom tower has become more famous, and major events such as the birth of a royal baby and sporting events are displayed here.

It is reported that due to the large scale of the technical equipment in the tower and the complexity of the relocation work, it will take years for British Telecom to vacate office space. The UK's largest telecom operator announced last year that it was working on a massive cost-cutting plan to cut five jobs by 203050,000 people.
