With the continuous development of science and technology, waterproof and breathable membrane materials have been widely used in many fields. Among them, EPTFE (expanded polytetrafluoroethylene), as a high-performance waterproof and breathable material, is widely used in many fields such as medical treatment, small household appliances, consumer electronics, and automobile manufacturing because of its excellent chemical corrosion resistance, low friction coefficient, high strength and good biocompatibility. Today, let's talk about the types of EPTFE waterproof and breathable membrane support layer materials.
1.PP support layer
EPTFE waterproof and breathable composite membrane PP support layer is a non-woven fabric made of polypropylene plastic particles as a support material, because of the PP support layer, it has good thermal stability, corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, long life, and high strength mechanical properties. It doesn't absorb water, but it's breathable, so it can easily keep the surface of the cloth dry and clean, and it is not easy to absorb dust. Due to this property, VONM is used to form a waterproof and breathable membrane in combination with EPTFE membranes. Enhance the water resistance and other protective properties of the vent while maintaining the water and breathability of EPTFE. The commonly used models are: VSW612-17, VSW612-30, etc., which are used in medical, tissue culture, automobile manufacturing, small household appliances and other fields.
2.PET support layer
The raw material of the PET support layer of EPTFE waterproof and breathable composite film is 100% polyester, which has the characteristics of strong tensile force, high temperature resistance, anti-aging, stability and good air permeability. This material has good compression resistance and fatigue resistance, and can meet different thickness and application requirements.
3.Two-component support layer (PP PE, PET PE).
EPTFE waterproof and breathable composite membrane two-component support layer (PP PE, PET PE) is a material with a skin layer that usually has a low melting point and is easy to bond. However, the melting point of the core material is higher, and the original physical properties of the fiber remain unchanged. The strength of nonwoven products made of two-component fibers can be increased by 10% to 25% compared with ordinary products, so that the products have good mechanical properties. Products processed with two-component fibers are not only strong, soft and drape, but also can be treated with hydrophilic, water-repellent and anti-static finishes. The commonly used materials for core pairing are: PE PP, PE PA, PP PP, PA PET, etc. The VONF film is compounded with EPTFE film through a composite process to form a water-resistant breathable and impermeable material.
At present, there are three common ePTFE waterproof and breathable membrane support layer materials on the market, which provide rich choices for different application scenarios. Understanding the characteristics and application areas of different types of EPTFE materials can help to better meet the actual needs and give full play to their unique advantages. With the continuous development of science and technology, it is believed that the EPTFE waterproof and breathable membrane will be more widely used and improved in the future.
