On January 28, the 2024 Berlin International Green Week came to an end in Berlin, Germany. As one of the world's largest food, agriculture and horticulture exhibitions, the exhibition attracted more than 1,400 companies from 61 countries and regions, and about 300,000 visitors. The Global Forum on Food and Agriculture was also held during the event, where delegates focused on topics such as sustainable land development** to achieve the goal of halving food waste by 2030.
Smart agriculture and low-carbon agriculture are a major focus of this exhibition. In front of the booth titled "Artificial Intelligence Land", the person in charge, Franco, introduced their new product to reporters, the robot for the whole process of crop cultivation. When irrigating, the robot can operate a single plant according to the actual situation of crops, and the water consumption can be reduced by 20%. To solve the problem that static solar panels can affect ground lighting, this photovoltaic robot can also move on the track as needed to reduce shading.
Franco told reporters that two years ago, after obtaining a doctorate in engineering from the Aachen University of Applied Sciences in Germany, he and his brother who is engaged in agricultural production co-founded the "Science and Technology +" farm to empower agriculture with science and technology. Today, a scientific team of 15 engineers is dedicated to developing the hardware and software needed for agricultural automation. "One of our achievements is this robot, which can efficiently automate crop cultivation. Franco said.
The application scenarios of "science and technology + agriculture" are more abundant, so that agricultural productivity can be released. Exhibitor Agathavis' fully automated seeding and hoeing robot is equipped with solar panels and can operate continuously for 24 hours. Vandet showcased a climate-friendly tractor that is electrically powered and can last up to five hours, with low energy consumption and zero emissions.
During the exhibition, the organizers also held a variety of experiential activities to spread the concept of sustainable development to visitors. In the exhibition area of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, people can wear virtual reality glasses and experience the "swamp world" in 360 degrees and understand the importance of marshes to ecological balance. In the forestry exhibition area, people can immerse themselves in the wonderful relationship between forests and the water cycle. At the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, people can learn on hand how to reduce their carbon footprint while cooking.
For the first time, the Berlin International Green Week also opened the "Young Generation Experience Center", which offers around 90 career experiences for young people in combination with the German vocational education program Dual Track. At the experience center, many local elementary and junior high school students were interested in experiencing the work of different professions. Victor, a ninth-grader from the Robert Juncker Lycchux in Berlin, told reporters: "I am interested in work related to nature and the land. I worked here as a farmer and a gardener, which was very interesting. "In a woodworking workshop, several young people are working on wooden daily necessities under the guidance of professionals. "We hope that through practical experience, young people can learn more about the work related to green living, and inspire them to contribute to environmental protection with their own actions. The staff of the experience center told reporters.
Inside, people can engage in experiential projects, sit down and listen to forums on topics such as climate neutrality, circular economy, and more, or network with agricultural and tech practitioners from around the world**. The concept of green development is silently integrated into people's daily life.
