In the early 90s of the last century, I was assigned to work in the army, and I became a cadre when I joined the army, and I never became a soldier.

But before he officially went to work, he joined the three-month Huayang military and political training team, which is actually equivalent to recruit training.

In the military and political training team, they first studied political theory every day, stood in military posture, trained footwork and queues, and then practiced tactics.

At that time, the food of the grassroots troops was still poor, the supply of food was limited, there was little oil and water in the meat, and the people were young and digested quickly, so they were often so hungry that their chests were close to their backs. Three meals a day, regardless of male and female students, bachelor's, master's, and doctor's, grabbing food has become a must for every meal.

At the beginning, all the students, especially the female students, were very gentle, and they would not rob. In the first few days of training, everyone consciously lined up with a bowl to eat in an orderly manner, who knew that after eating the first bowl, there would be no second bowl, if you can't eat enough, you won't have the strength to train, and the training performance will naturally not be good, which can make the squad leader anxious.

So the squad leader taught us to grab food. The basic routine is to line up to the canteen before each meal, and after a song before the meal, as soon as you enter the canteen door, you will rush forward as soon as possible.

Serve half a bowl of rice first, finish it as quickly as possible, and quickly run to serve another large bowl of rice, so that you can eat or eat most of the full. After learning this method, I ate more meals at each meal, trained more energetically, and achieved better results.

Because of this, I developed the habit of eating quickly. Especially at home, I often finish three or two simple dishes before they are all served on the table. Family members often teach that eating too quickly is not good for digestion and health, and it makes people feel uncivilized and impolite.

I also know that this is a bad habit, but decades have passed, and I still can't change it.

At that time, our military and political training team and other professional training teams dined in a large dining hall.

Grabbing food to eat, for veterans, it is all a quick and resolute and domineering thing, the new trainees are timid and regular, if we are not careful, our little food is gone, and we can only watch the veterans eat happily with hungry eyes.

Of course, there have also been cases of new and veteran soldiers quarreling and fighting over food, but they have basically been quelled by the leaders of the training brigade.

I remember the first day of training at noon, our new training team's rice, was snatched away by the old training team, the new training squad leader was anxious, hurriedly asked everyone to take the bowl, in the canteen to run around to find food, as long as you see ** there is rice, do not ask a big bowl of indiscriminate and run, see that most of the people, including female students, have grabbed the rice, the squad leader is relieved.

Since then, every meal has been served, and the squad leaders have always run to the front, shouting "One!" as they run. Two! Three! Four! and then yelled "Quick! Fast! Fast! Running keeps up with ......"We all rushed to the front of the canteen in a 100-meter sprint, occupying the best position to run into the canteen as fast as possible.

There have also been cases of food grabbing within the military and political training team, and it is still female cadets who snatch male cadets. Remember to improve your meal and eat dumplings once on the weekend.

Everyone was eating dumplings that were rare to eat for the last time, and a female student named Wang Yang in the female soldier platoon next to her seat suddenly left her seat, walked quickly to the table of our class, and took away the more than ten dumplings left in the rice bowl on the table with great speed.

At that time, the twelve male students in our class were eating with bowls and looking at the dumplings in the basin, when they were suddenly taken away, and everyone was stunned.

Now it seems that it is indeed a bit unbelievable to grab food like this, but back then, we were all in our early twenties and young, and we were really hungry.

After the military and political training team returned to the unit and started to work, they bought tickets to eat, and there was no such thing as grabbing food, but they also saw young colleagues buy 10 servings of roasted white or 15 servings of steamed pork for one meal, and eat cleanly in one go.

Later, the food of the grassroots troops was gradually improved, the meals were improved, and the portions were sufficient, but there were phenomena such as littering steamed buns and dumping rice. In order to put an end to waste, I also did the work of gathering a company and urging the company and platoon cadres to take the lead one by one to pick up the steamed buns in the swill bucket and eat them.

In the grassroots troops, it has always been the world of young people, and there are many interesting things. The experience of grabbing food in particular, although it is a little unbearable to look back, and that period of youth has long passed, but it is always worth remembering.
