He is one of the outstanding senior jurists in China and the founder of New China's jurisprudence.

1. Mr. Li Fang, a famous legal educator, winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Law Discipline of Jilin University, and professor of the School of Law, passed away on February 17, 2024 at the age of 95 due to ineffective medical treatment.

Mr. Li Fang, a Manchu, was born on November 14, 1929 in Yongji County, Jilin Province. In 1948, he was admitted to the Department of Education of the Northeast Academy of Sciences in Harbin, and in November of the same year, he was transferred to the Department of Justice of the Northeast School of Administration (the predecessor of the Law School of Jilin University), and in 1951, he was selected to study at the Law Department of the Chinese People's University for graduate studies, and returned to the university in 1953 as the main teacher of the course "State and Legal Power Theory". During his teaching career, he participated in the teaching and creation of courses or disciplines such as civil law, international law, and economic law according to the needs of discipline construction, and successively served as the director of the teaching and research department of the Department of Law, the deputy director of the department, and the director of the Institute of Law. He has served as the executive director of the Jilin Provincial Law Society, the secretary of the Basic Theory of Law Research Association, the director general of the Comparative Law Research Association, the director of the China Law Society, the director of the Chinese Society of International Law, the vice chairman and director of the China Behavior Law Society, the secretary of the China Jurisprudence Research Association, the deputy director general of the China Comparative Law Society, the adjunct professor of Dalian Maritime University, and the part-time researcher of the first Institute of Law of Nankai University. He has been awarded the title of Outstanding Teacher of Jilin University, Jilin University Law Lifelong Education Award and other awards and honorary titles by Jilin University, and was awarded the title of "National Outstanding Senior Jurist" by the China Law Society in September 2012.

In 1981, based on his teaching lectures for many years, he compiled and supplemented the academic monograph "Principles of Law" and published it, which was the first work on "jurisprudence" in China. In 1987, he wrote the book "Outline of Basic Theories of Law", which started from the construction of a socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics and carried out pioneering explorations, which provided fresh breath and innovative ideas for the theoretical transformation and system reform of Chinese legal theory, and was widely recognized by the legal scholars. It is precisely because of the academic study and insistence on truth of the older generation of jurists such as Mr. Li Fang that they have provided theoretical preparation for the transformation of the academic paradigm of Chinese legal theory and laid a solid foundation for the vigorous development of the jurisprudence major of Jilin University.

He has published more than 30 academic articles, such as "On Further Strengthening the Study of Marxist Law", "Striving to Further Create a New Situation in China's Legal Research", "A Brief Discussion on the Emergence and Characteristics of International Law", and "Japanese Law", and published more than 20 works such as "Principles of Law", "Outline of Basic Theory of Law", "Basic Knowledge of Economic Law", "Basic Theory of Law", "Introduction to Law" and "Lectures on Legal Knowledge", accumulating more than 1,000,000 words, and presided over the national key scientific research project "Research on Contemporary Japanese Law" Writing for the book. In 2009, Mr. Li Fang, who was over eighty years old, wrote "On the Chinese Legal System Revisited" to contribute to the development and promotion of Chinese legal culture.

Mr. has loved the party and the country all his life, devoted himself to the teaching altar, devoted himself to educating people, has noble morals, superb academics, is honest and selfless, is kind to others, is a model for future generations to learn!

According to Mr. Li Fang's last wishes, the funeral was simple, no farewell ceremony was held, no memorial service was held, and no mourning hall was set up at home.
