Chen Ran went to the execution ground, and only then did he know that "Advance Daily" was at home

At 8 a.m. on October 28, 1949, the front of the garrison headquarters was crowded with onlookers. Chen Ran and the other ten people were lined up in front of the table, and there were ten bowls of wine and ten pieces of fat on the table.

Chen Ran and his comrades-in-arms did not give in when they were called by reactionary judges and announced their "crimes" at the "public trial" of the Kuomintang, but they looked at each other in surprise, hugged each other tightly, and expressed their support and respect for each other.

Chen Ran, a young man who was born in the land of Yanzhao and was educated in patriotism by his family since he was a child, gradually grew into a revolutionary with faith and courage in his life of exile and the baptism of war.

He once participated in the "Yichang Anti-Japanese War Troupe" led by the Communist Party of China, where he and other members made their own contributions to the Anti-Japanese War. However, the ** of the Kuomintang diehards did not give him a knees, he still adhered to his beliefs and actively engaged in revolutionary work such as uniting the masses and educating them.

After losing contact with the organization, he did not become depressed, but devoted himself more actively to the revolutionary cause. In 1945, in response to the party's call, he organized the young friends around him in the form of a reading club to study together the articles and books such as "On New Democracy", "Rectification Literature", "History of Social Development" and "Introduction to Dialectical Materialism".

This spirit of his makes us deeply admire.

Chen Ran was part of the reading club, which worked for democracy and peace, founded a printing office, and distributed progressive propaganda materials. After the victory in the war, he actively participated in various rallies calling for peace and democracy and opposing the ** civil war.

At a rally, he suffered a head injury for resisting violence by Kuomintang agents, but survived. In 1947, Chen Ran and other progressive youths founded the magazine "Wandering" to guide them to take the revolutionary road of integrating with workers and peasants.

He wrote an article emphasizing the importance of the temperament, and later interpreted the meaning of the temperament with his own life. Later, the magazine "Wandering" was forced to stop, but they disseminated the news of the victory of the people's revolution in the form of mimeographed tabloids.

The tabloid caught the attention of the Chongqing Municipal Working Committee, an underground party, who took over the tabloid and renamed it the "Advance Daily" as the organ of the Municipal Working Committee.

After Chen Ran resumed his organizational relationship, he served as a member and secretary of the special branch organization of the "Advance Daily", responsible for the mimeographing of the top-secret newspaper. The Chongqing Municipal Working Committee stipulated that the "Advance Daily" only published Xinhua News Agency telegrams and rarely published articles.

Another 16-page mimeographed journal "**" prepared by comrades led by the Working Committee mainly published articles. These two underground party newspapers and periodicals of the Chinese Communist Party are two sharp swords piercing the heart of the enemy in the dark.

In order to ensure the information source and daily supply of the "Advance Daily", the Chongqing underground party organization decided to set up a special radio branch to collect the broadcasts of the Xinhua News Agency, copy them and transmit them to the "Advance Daily".

And this task finally fell on Cheng Shanmou.

Cheng Shanmou, formerly known as Chen Ran, was born in Hejiang, Sichuan in 1917 and graduated from the Sichuan Radio Training Class in 1935. In the winter of 1939, he actively participated in the anti-Japanese salvation movement in his hometown and joined the Communist Party of China.

At the end of the following year, he moved to Chongqing, applied for the Guizhou Aviation Machinery School organized by the Kuomintang Military Committee, and with the help of his lover Yang Bili, he founded an electrical repair shop and a Jianzhong Electromechanical Factory.

Under the auspices of the Chongqing Municipal Working Committee, he set up a special radio branch committee and served as a propaganda committee. He is proficient in radio, and acts as a cover as the owner of an electrical repair shop, skillfully installing the radio, using the tweeter ** pop songs as a cover, and putting on headphones to send and receive news.

He used the radio station to copy the Xinhua News Agency's telegrams for the "Advance Daily" every night, conveyed the instructions to the broad masses of underground party members and progressive masses in a timely manner, and spread the good news of the Liberation War to all directions.

He copied the telegram with great care, neat handwriting, word for word, and sometimes when the text was interrupted, he put an ellipsis at the end of the sentence and noted in parentheses, "There was someone outside just now, and it was inconvenient to include it, so it was broken."

Chen Ran didn't know who was doing this secret work, it turned out that he knew Cheng Shanmou, the "boss" who opened a shop in Chongqing, but he didn't know that "Boss Cheng" was the "master" of his "Advance Daily".

Since the special branch of the "Advance Daily" and the special branch of the radio station are both one-line contacts, they do not communicate with each other. When Chen Ran was printing the "Advance Daily", he found that every time the telegraph manuscript was transferred from the organization, the handwriting was neat and meticulous, and he was deeply impressed by the earnest attitude of the collector.

He wrote a phrase "Salute to the Revolution" to pay tribute to this comrade, which, taking into account the discipline of work, was not signed and forwarded by the organization. A few days later, he received a reply with a simple "Hold your hand tightly", again unsigned.

After a long period of busy work and lack of sleep, Cheng Shanmou suffered from severe anemia and eye diseases, and often fainted. Comrades often advised him to rest for a few days before working, and he always replied with an old saying: "If you die, you will die on the radio!" ”

Chen Ran was in charge of the printing and distribution of the newspaper. As early as October 1945, Chen Ran came to the Kuomintang COFCO Company to work as the director of a repair and processing plant in Wildcat Creek on the south bank of Chongqing, and there were only seven or eight workers in the factory, and he was responsible for managing it alone.

In order to maintain better secrecy, he offered to live in his office and set up the place where the newspaper would work, and the Municipal Working Committee agreed with him.

The printing and distribution of the newspaper were almost all done by Chen Ran alone at night, and he still needed to go to work in the factory during the day. With superhuman energy, a high sense of responsibility, and vigilance, he made precise arrangements and wholeheartedly fulfilled the difficult tasks assigned to him by the party.

Since he did not have a mimeograph machine, he could only use a piece of bamboo to engrave words on wax paper. Only 30-50 copies can be printed on a piece of wax paper. In the face of difficulties, Chen Ran persevered, studied printing technology hard, and even learned to engrave steel plates.

Subsequently, the Working Committee decided that he would be in charge of the engraving and printing work alone.

Chen Ran and his comrades-in-arms fought together in an extremely dangerous environment, with the "Advance Daily" as the leader, and finally completed the distribution of the newspaper. Their actions caused panic among the enemy, but their spirit of sacrifice and unwavering faith made the voice of revolution reverberate in the mountain town.

Chen Ran received a text message from a comrade who guessed that it might be dangerous, but he persevered until the last moment, proving his loyalty with his actions. However, his sacrifice was exchanged for the victory of the revolution.

Xu Yuanju was forced to engage in a car ** battle after being anxious to obtain information from the "Advance Daily", and was interrogated seven times in 10 days, each time using torture. In one of the longest interrogations, he was tortured for five consecutive days, but had to be interrupted because of his injuries.

Although the exact method of torture is no longer known, we can still imagine the heroic scene through many recollections. In the "Red Rock Soul" Memorial Hall in Chongqing, a group of sculptures realistically reproduce Chen Ran's torture.

The first sculpture depicts him tied to a bench with agents pouring him chili water, his mouth spilling bright red juice. The second sculpture depicts him tied to a specially made chair, his hands raised and tied to a beam on top of the chair, and his fingers and head connected with electrodes.

The third sculpture depicts him hanging upside down with his hands behind his back, his chest facing the burning charcoal stove below. The red-hot tongs creaked, and a thug was scorching with a red-hot iron ...... him

If you mutiny, I will pounce on the power grid, you can not have ideals and beliefs in order to live, I can give up my life for ideals and beliefs! "This guy, why is it so hard? ”

Xu Yuanju finally had to ask himself helplessly. The spies had nothing to do, so in the end they had to be treated as a "repeat offender" and escorted Chen Ran, who was seriously injured in both legs, to the Bai Mansion.

Chen Ran was tortured in the White Mansion, but he was determined to sacrifice himself to protect the organization and comrades, and expressed his hatred for the Kuomintang reactionaries and his contempt for the shameless traitors in the poem "My "Confessions" Book.

The prison "Advance Daily" is the secret of the party organization in the prison**, Chen Ran regarded the cell as a battlefield, and wrote the latest news on the cigarette box paper, which inspired the victims. Chen Ran and his fellow refugees were revolutionary martyrs of the White Mansion, and when the news of the founding of New China reached the prison, they were so excited that they sewed a five-star red flag with their own hands.

Despite facing the final test, Chen Ran remained steadfast and sang a triumphant song to bury the Chiang dynasty. On the execution ground, Chen Ran and Cheng Shanmou shook hands tightly, they shouted slogans, spread the good news of the revolution, Chen Ran was 26 years old when he fell, but he lived a glorious life and died a heroic death.

Although his life was short, he interpreted the meaning of life with his heroic spirit of treating death as home.

Integrity is the soul pillar and spiritual backbone of life, and noble integrity is the quality that every party member and cadre should have. Guarding the original mission, tempering political integrity, and tempering political backbone, our party will be full of strength, and party members and cadres will move forward bravely.
