New energy vehicles refer to vehicles that use non-traditional energy sources (such as electricity, solar energy, hydrogen energy, etc.) as power, and they are considered to be the development direction of future automobiles because they can reduce dependence on oil, reduce carbon emissions, and protect the environment. However, there is a so-called "new energy vehicle" on the market, which is actually deceiving consumers, and they are new energy vehicles with engines, that is, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
Plug-in hybrids are cars that have both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine, which can be charged by plug-in or powered by fuel. It sounds wonderful, you can enjoy the low fuel consumption and low pollution of electric vehicles, and you can enjoy the range and power performance of fuel vehicles. However, is this kind of car really a new energy vehicle? The answer is no, they are actually fuel vehicles, and they are highly polluting fuel vehicles!
Why? First of all, plug-in hybrid vehicles have a small battery capacity, generally only running a few tens of kilometers, and the charging speed is very slow, taking several hours. As a result, many car owners do not charge at all, but directly use the fuel mode, which loses the advantages of electric vehicles, and instead increases fuel consumption and emissions. Second, the internal combustion engines of plug-in hybrid vehicles are often inefficient because they have to bear more weight and power requirements, and they have to work in harmony with the electric motor, which increases fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. Finally, plug-in hybrid vehicles are expensive to manufacture because they require two powertrains to be installed at the same time, which increases the use and waste of materials, resulting in waste of resources and environmental damage.
Therefore, plug-in hybrid vehicles are not only not new energy vehicles, but also a highly polluting fuel vehicle, they just take advantage of the loopholes in the policy, obtain subsidies and preferential treatment for new energy vehicles, and in fact do not contribute to energy conservation and emission reduction, but are wasting resources and polluting the environment. As consumers, we should distinguish between right and wrong, not be fooled by the false propaganda of such cars, but choose real new energy vehicles, such as pure electric vehicles or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, which are the trend of the future, in order to truly achieve low-carbon travel and protect our planet.
