At the beginning of the new year, a number of sodium electricity companies have received financing, and recently, another start-up has been supported by capital. Anna Energy received tens of millions of yuan in financing

The starting point of sodium electricity is concerned, and Wuxi Anna Energy Technology has been completed recentlyTens of millions of yuan in angel round financingInvestors include Guangdong Weiken Electromagnetic Materials*** Sky Eagle Capital and Zhibai Capital. The funds from this round of financing will be used for R&D investment, capacity expansion and market expansion. According to the data, Ana Energy was established in February 2023 with a registered capital of 1 million yuan, the company is located in Liyuan Development Zone, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, mainly focusing on the production and research of sodium-ion batteries, and its products can be applied to centralized energy storage, low-speed electric vehicles, two-wheeled electric vehicles and other fields. The company has a number of core patents in core materials such as manganese-based oxide cathode materials and composite phosphoric polyanion cathodes. Independently developed by Anna EnergyManganese-based sodium-ion batteriesEntering the customer verification stage, it has reached cooperation with a number of leading two-wheeler manufacturers. At the same time, the company has completed the trial production of small batches of battery cells, and plans to achieve mass production and shipment in 2024. The co-founder & chief scientist of the scientific research team of Anna Energy is Professor Xia Hui of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, who has accumulated deep experience in the field of electrochemical energy storage materials such as sodium-ion batteries, and has published more than 190 articles in many international authoritative journals, and has been selected into the list of the world's top 2% scientists in 2022. Since 2023, the sodium battery industry has been competing with each other, and the attention of capital to the sodium battery industry has increased sharply, setting off a sodium electricity financing boom. According to the statistics of starting point sodium electricity, since 2023, more than 35 companies have received 54 rounds of financing, covering the whole industrial chain links such as sodium batteries, cathode and anode materials, anode materials, electrolytes, and separators.

In 2024 alone, Carbone New Materials, a sodium-electric hard carbon anode material company, Xinchen New Materials, a new electrolyte company, and Hongyuan New Energy, a sodium-lithium cathode material company, have received financing. Hongyuan New Energy also recently announced the completion of tens of millions of yuan in angel round financing, jointly invested by Linge Venture Capital and well-known industrial investors, and the funds raised are mainly used for the investment of 1,000 tons of pilot line equipment. It is reported that Hongyuan New Energy is a R&D company focusing on lithium battery and sodium battery phosphate cathode materials, and is about to complete the construction of a thousand-ton production line and achieve small-scale mass production in 2024. Progress in the layout of manganese-based sodium electric materials

It is understood that the variable valence transition metals involved in transition metal oxides mainly include vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel and copper, among which manganese-based cathode materials have the advantages of abundant resources, simple synthesis process, high theoretical specific capacity, strong controllability of chemical composition and phase structure, and environmental friendliness. However, manganese-based cathode materials will undergo harmful phase transitions in the process of sodium deintercalation, resulting in poor cycling performance of sodium-ion batteries. In order to solve this problem, the main modification methods include the introduction of new element doping, the preparation of composite cathode materials, surface coating, and microstructure control. By adjusting the orientation of the internal crystal structure of the material, Ansodium Energy can effectively reduce the degree of distortion, enhance the structural stability of manganese-based materials, prolong the cycle life, and eliminate the influence of Jahn-Teller distortion. At present, the main enterprises that have laid out manganese-based sodium electrocathode materials are Weifang Energy, Huana New Materials, Haona New Energy, Huicheng New Materials, Dechuang Sodium Electricity, Meite New Materials, etc. Weifang Energy has laid out a production line project with an annual output of 100,000 tons of manganese-based sodium-ion battery materials in Guizhou Dalong Development Zone, which has started construction. At present, the 1,000-ton production capacity of the pilot line has been completed and put into operation, with a production capacity of 10,000 tons in 2023, 50,000 tons in 2024, 100,000 tons in 2025, and 120,000 tons in 2026. Previously, Huana New Materials also received tens of millions of yuan of strategic financing from Chongqing Weiduli, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zijian Electronics, which was mainly used for product development, customer certification and the construction of 10,000-ton intelligent green zero-carbon park production lines. Hao Na New Energy is committed to the technology and industrialization of sodium electromanganese base cathode materials, and has completed the construction of a sodium-ion battery cathode material R&D center, a small-scale test and a cell R&D center, completed the commissioning of a 1,000-ton cathode material pilot production line, and will start the construction of a 10,000-ton production line in 2024. In June 2023, the Management Committee of Guangxi Fangchenggang Economic Development Zone signed a cooperation framework agreement on the project of manganese-based oxide cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries with an annual output of 100,000 tons, with a total investment of about 3.5 billion yuan. Dechuang Sodium has laid out a project with an annual output of 3,000 tons of manganese-based oxide cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. Meite New Materials, a subsidiary of Light Salt Group, is also conducting research on the preparation technology of manganese-based oxide cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. In March 2023, Meite New Materials reached an industry-university-research cooperation agreement with Central South University, and established the Sodium Electric Research Institute. It was agreed to jointly develop the preparation technology of manganese-based oxide cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries, complete the kilogram-scale expansion test, and provide a process technology basis for cooperation in carrying out tonnage pilot tests.
