On November 30, 2022, the Jiangxi High Court pronounced a second-instance judgment on Lao Rongzhi's appeal: rejecting the appeal and upholding the original judgment. On December 18, 2023, with the approval of the Supreme People's Court, the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court executed Lao Rongzhi.
