Zong Qinghou was born in a famous family, and the tenth ancestor Ruizhi moved from Hangzhou to form the Qiantang clan. Great-grandfather Zong Chenglie held official positions in Hubei and Sichuan, and later died in Sichuan, and the official was the commander of the infantry army of the Governor's Mansion of Zheng Erpin, and was buried in Qiantang County.
