Late at night on February 2, the 630 train from Chongqing North to Hankou was stranded on the way due to severe weather conditions. After 16 hours of arduous travel, the train finally arrived safely at Hankou Station at 7 a.m. on the 3rd.
Although it was 10 hours later than expected, the delay, caused by snow and icy roads, became a topic of public concern.
As the snow fell, the road surface began to freeze, and the train had to slow down or even stop. According to reports, due to bad weather conditions, the catenary from Hanchuan to Da Da section of the Hanyi Line was covered with ice, resulting in a power outage, which also affected the operation of many trains such as Freeze 5788, Freeze 5998, and Dong 630. However, the railroad authorities are also working hard to repair it, and they are risking it in the blizzard.
Due to the continuous impact of low temperature, rain and snow, the railway department decided to suspend the operation of some trains in Hankou Experiment, Yichang, Enshi, Zaoyang and other places under the jurisdiction of Wuhan Bureau on February 4, and at the same time, some trains between Yichang, Xiangyang and Wuhan and Zhengzhou, Nanchang and Sichuan were also suspended. The railway department has activated an emergency plan to strengthen the maintenance and inspection of line equipment to confirm the safety of all equipment.
For those passengers who need a refund due to the suspension of the train, the railway authorities have facilitated the refund procedure within 30 days without any charge. At the same time, the staff of the railway department did their best to guide and assist the stranded passengers on the platform, and did their best to maintain public order.
