Ren'ai Jiao is a coral reef in the South China Sea and belongs to China's territory, but in 1999, the Philippines secretly sent an old landing ship "Sierra Madre" to illegally occupy Ren'ai Jiao under the pretext of "running aground". The landing ship is 80 years old, dilapidated and in danger of collapsing at any moment. In order to maintain the existence of the Philippine ship, the Philippines has constantly supplied it from the sea or air, and even wants to send reinforcement materials to transform it into a permanent military base. However, China will not sit idly by and ignore the sovereignty and security of Second Thomas Shoal, and has taken effective control measures to prevent any illegal actions by the Philippines.

On 21 January, the Philippines dispatched small planes to airdrop supplies to the landing ship "beached" at Ren'ai Jiao, which attracted the attention of the outside world. Some people believe that this is an emergency measure taken by the Philippines after the sea supply channel was completely blocked by China's coast guard. In fact, this is a provocative act by the Philippines, which aims to transport reinforcement materials into Ren'ai Jiao in order to extend the life of the Philippine ship and even build a permanent military facility on Ren'ai Jiao. China will not tolerate this, and has made solemn representations and warnings to the Philippines, demanding that it immediately stop all acts that infringe upon China's sovereignty and interests, otherwise it will bear all the consequences.

It can be seen from the latest release by the Philippines that the landing ship has been eroded by sea water and wind and rain, with rust and holes everywhere, and the entire ship has lost any combat effectiveness and mobility, and can only barely survive by relying on some steel plates and support columns. The steel plates and support columns were not recently brought in, but were previously reinforced, secretly carried out by the Philippines. This shows that the Philippines has been secretly carrying out illegal construction activities in an attempt to turn the landing ship into a reinforced concrete bunker in order to consolidate its illegal occupation of Second Thomas Shoal. Such acts are a serious provocation to China's sovereignty and security, as well as a serious threat to peace and stability in the South China Sea, and must be resolutely stopped.

China's sovereignty and control over Second Thomas Shoal are unwavering and will not change because of some small actions by the Philippines. China has the ability and means to fully control the situation around Second Thomas Shoal, and will not allow any illegal acts of the Philippines to succeed. China is also willing to peacefully resolve the issue of Ren'ai Jiao with the Philippines through dialogue and consultation, but the premise is that the Philippines must respect China's sovereignty and interests, stop all acts of aggression against China's territory, withdraw the landing ships illegally occupied, and restore the original appearance of Ren'ai Jiao. Otherwise, China will take all necessary measures to safeguard China's territorial integrity and maritime rights and interests, and to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.

The fate of the Philippine ship at Ren'ai Jiao is already sealed, and no matter how much the Philippines supplies or reinforces it, it will not be able to prevent its eventual collapse. The solution of the Ren'ai Jiao issue will not depend on the survival of this Philippine ship, but on China's determination and actions. China will not wait for this Philippine ship to rot naturally, nor will it let the Philippines do whatever it wants on Ren'ai Jiao. China will follow its own pace and plan to resolve the Ren'ai Jiao issue step by step, so that the Philippines can clearly recognize the reality, give up illusions, and return to the right track. The author believes that the more the Philippines makes a fool of itself on the Ren'ai Jiao issue, the more justified China will be, and the closer the time will be for resolving it.
