China lost groundReturn at the end of the year, and bring it backTons of treasure?
Hello everyone, I'm Brother Teng. China managed to regain the Pamir Plateau, which had been lost for 128 years, in 2011! So how did the Pamirs return to the bosom of the motherland?
What is the significance of this exciting event for China? What kind of impact will it have on the motherland after its return? Let's uncover this history!
The Pamirs: The Stage of the Earth The Pamirs, with their long history and unique landforms, have become witnesses to the history of the planet. As early as ancient times, there was geological activity here, and after hundreds of millions of years of evolution, the current plateau landform was formed.
According to relevant experts, there have been signs of the ocean here, and there have also been land, which is the place where the history of the earth has changed. Many sources in China have recorded the Pamirs, among which the earliest document is China's mythological work "The Classic of Mountains and Seas".
In ancient times, people deified the major mountain ranges of this plateau because of the special geographical environment around the mountain. Manager Hai once mentioned a well-known story - Gonggong angrily collided with Buzhou Mountain, which is now the Pamir Plateau.
The Pamirs, a place full of mysteries and legends, are a microcosm of the history of the earth and a witness to the history of mankind.
The Pamir Plateau covers a total area of 100,000 square kilometers and has complex topography and steep terrain. It has been an inalienable territory of our country since ancient times, located in the southwest of Xinjiang, southeast of Tajikistan and northeast Afghanistan.
Its area is equivalent to the total area of Jiangsu Province and South Korea. In addition, the Pamir Plateau, located in the western part of the Kunlun Mountains, is the westernmost territory of our country, with a total length of about 280 miles, spanning the three countries of Tajikistan, China and Afghanistan.
The Kunlun Mountains and many other mountain ranges converge here. It has a continental alpine climate, with an average temperature of less than -20 degrees Celsius throughout the year, and cold weather throughout the year, so the mountains are covered with snow all year round.
The Pamir means "high" in Tajik, aptly depicting the towering peaks of the mountains.
It is not a single plateau, but is made up of several rolling peaks. These peaks are extremely high in elevation, mostly between 4,000 and 7,000 meters. The Pamir Plateau, which is about 300 kilometers away from Kashgar, has beautiful scenery along the way, inaccessible and pleasant environment.
April to June is the rainy season with heavy rainfall. Therefore, the best time to enjoy the beauty of the Pamirs is from July to September. However, a permit is required to travel to the Pamirs.
In addition, due to the extremely high altitude, many first-time visitors may experience physical discomfort such as soil and water discomfort and altitude sickness. The history of this place is full of twists and turns, especially the three times when it was disputed, all of which stem from the intricate history of the Pamirs.
The Pamirs – the birthplace of the ancient Silk Road The Pamirs have played an important role in China's history since ancient times. In the change of dynasties, it constantly changed its identity and contributed to the expansion of the territory of each dynasty.
In 60 BC, the Western Han Dynasty established the Western Regions Protectorate and began to administer several Western Regions states on the Pamir Plateau. And this was the beginning of the later Silk Road.
Zhang Qian's escape from the Xiongnu tribe crossed the Pamir Plateau, creating this historic route. At that time, the foreign country was very developed, and the goods of merchants from all countries had to be carried out along this route, and the Pamir Plateau was a key node in it.
Therefore, we can see that the location of the Pamirs is very advantageous and has an extremely important impact on the economy of various countries. However, it is precisely because of its important geographical location that the Pamirs have become the target of competition among major countries.
During the Tang Dynasty, the Pamirs became part of the Tang Dynasty, and even set up a capital protectorate and stationed thousands of soldiers. However, due to the Anshi Rebellion, the Tang Dynasty began to decline, and they had to gradually withdraw from the Western Regions.
It is recorded in the "Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty" that the high monk Tang Xuanzong once arrived here in order to obtain the true scriptures, and this experience is amazing. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, the battle of Hengros was fought in the green ridge north of the Pamirs, and the defeat of this battle caused part of the territory of the Pamirs to fall into the hands of the Arabs.
The Pamir Mountains and numerous rivers have created a harsh climate and environment. During the Qing Dynasty, the Mongols wanted to break away from the rule, and the Tajiks on the plateau were also under control.
Clashes broke out between the two clans over a territorial dispute. Emperor Qianlong immediately sent troops to quell the war, and after two years of hard work and a large number of troops, the entire plateau region was finally incorporated into the territory of the Qing Dynasty.
In order to remember this historical cause, Qianlong ordered the erection of a stone monument, which has undoubtedly become a powerful evidence that the high region belongs to our country. The Pamir Plateau is a strategic commanding height in the whole of Central Asia, and it occupies a geographical advantage in the war, and can overlook many places from a high place, creating favorable conditions for the protection of China's borders, so it is undoubtedly an ideal military fortress.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, our country experienced countless hardships. Since the 19th century, ** launched aggression on China's borders and forced the Qing Dynasty to sign unequal treaties, resulting in the Pamir Plateau being divided into three parts, belonging to China, Tsarist Russia and the pending region.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, we made a firm commitment to regain the territory that belonged to us, but due to many factors and historical problems, this goal has not been achieved.
However, after tireless efforts, we eventually succeeded in reclaiming the Pamirs. So, how is this road back to being tortuous and hopeful?
The Pamirs, the geographical treasure of our country, history and reality tell us that this land is an inseparable part of China. Numerous scholars have emphasized that the unique geographical location of the Pamir Plateau makes it a fortress on the border of our country, and its topographical advantages are unmatched.
In addition, the Pamirs are rich in natural resources, and although they were not fully explored before the return, from their unique environment and geographical location, it is highly likely that they will have a variety of precious flora, fauna and mineral resources, and even extremely rare natural resources.
Therefore, the return of the Pamirs to the motherland is undoubtedly an imperative decision for China's national interests and development.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Tajikistan seized control of the Pamirs, and China's path to return took a turn for the better. China saw this opportunity and began to help Tajikistan build its infrastructure, helping in many ways.
Tajikistan is grateful, and the two countries began to resurvey the border, which was completed in 2008. Later, the two countries signed a border agreement, and in 2011 the border was redrawn, returning 1,158 square kilometers of land that originally belonged to China to China.
In 2012, Tajikistan visited and agreed to return the region to China, and after many twists and turns, the Pamirs finally returned to the embrace of the motherland. Some people may ask, why does China go to great lengths to reclaim this place far from our lives?
Is it just for the resources that may exist? In fact, this is mainly due to the management of sovereignty, resource advantages and border security considerations. From the loss to the regain, the 128-year history of encroachment has finally come to an end.
This is the wish of every Chinese, not only to give an account of the humiliating history of those years, but also to demonstrate to the outside world the principle of the inviolability of the country's sacred territory. We have a deep love for every inch of land in China, and we have a strong affection for the divided land.
Since the successful reconquest of this strategic location, we have quickly dispatched a large number of professionals to carry out an exhaustive exploration of the land. We are very pleased with the results of the exploration, and the land is rich in rare resources underneath.
Not only did we find gold, but we also found a lot of oil. According to the project team's records at the time, a resource of 60 tonnes had been detected, while 200 tonnes were expected to be unexplored.
In addition, this initiative has accumulated valuable practical experience for China's survey technology. The oil in the region is mainly distributed on the border with Tajikistan, but the radiation there is very high, according to the test of professionals, the radiation value is 400 to 600 times higher than that of ordinary areas.
The Pamir Plateau is extremely rich in mineral resources, and more than 70 kinds of mineral resources have been discovered so far.
In addition, the researchers have discovered uranium, an extremely scarce mineral in modern industry, which will greatly promote the development of the nuclear energy industry, because the lack of uranium material has always been a bottleneck in the development of this industry.
You must know that uranium plays an important role in many fields such as industry and agriculture, for example, it can be used to control pests in agriculture, and it can be used for disinfection and sterilization, clinical diagnosis and so on.
At the same time, the Pamirs are rich in flora and fauna, and due to the sparse population and small number of activity tracks, the environment here is greatly protected, and many rare plants and animals survive.
In addition, it has also made use of its flora and fauna resources and unique scenic environment to build a tourist area, and has become a very famous tourist attraction.
On our land, we have discovered a huge geothermal field that will provide our country with an abundance of geothermal energy for us to use for a long time.
At the same time, we also have abundant freshwater resources, which will be one of our important resources in the future. In addition to this, we have a lot of unexplored resources that are expected to be larger than we can imagine.
In the future development process, we will do our best to detect and develop, while also protecting the local environment and making better use of it. Therefore, the return of the Pamirs is of great significance.
Its return not only ensures the integrity of our territory, but also proves the strength of our country. We will take practical actions to protect this lost child for 128 years, and at the same time, we will continue to develop our comprehensive national strength and bring more lost territories back to the land of China.
So, let's talk about it for the time being, what do you think is the deeper meaning of the return of the Pamirs? If you have any ideas, please leave a message in the comment area to share.
