Hello everyone, I am Chen Gui, and I am a student of the 2020 class of the Master of Applied Psychology and Management in Shanghai Class 2 of Brest Business School, France. She is currently a full-time psychological counselor who is practicing independently, and has her own psychological counseling studio, Confidant Psychological Space. After 11 years of deep cultivation in the industry, the three most successful things are:
1. A total of 50+ online and offline lectures, providing lecture and training services for 20+ units (including enterprises, education and training institutions, schools, and communities), affecting 5000+ people;
2. From a "novice" to the field of psychology, he has continued to learn, share, and help others help themselves for 11 years, and has handled 1000+ cases;
3. Independently founded and operated a psychological counseling studio for 3 years, in addition to self-use, it also provided shared counseling room services for fellow teachers, providing a professional and comfortable environment for thousands of visitors and counselors.
The following is an interview with our study tour:
1.You recently went on a study tour to France organized by Brest Business School (BBS), can you tell us what made you decide to spend your time and money on such a trip?
I have been studying at BBS in France for two years and graduated in July last year, but due to the recurrence of the new crown epidemic before 2023, I have never had the opportunity to visit my school, which is a bit regrettable. This is the alumni group's graduation study tour in Europe organized by the school, and I have the opportunity to make my BBS study journey a successful conclusion without regrets; secondly, you can meet more alumni and make new friends; In addition, you can go to Europe to see the world, in my opinion, "read thousands of books, travel thousands of miles, read countless people" is a good way to learn, experience the world, I like the sentence "If you don't look at the world, where does the world view come from?" ”
2.What are the most profound aspects of this study tour? Can you share these moments with us in words?
The most profound part of my experience includes our graduation ceremony at the BBS main campus, which drew a successful end and exclamation point to my learning journey at BBS.
There is also a visit to the Louvre, the first of the world's four major museums, to feel the shock and enjoyment brought by history, architecture and art; I also visited the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, where I was deeply impressed by the garden design and meditation space, and the sight of the national flags of various countries fluttering in the wind was also spectacular; Visit the Mercedes-Benz factory, feel the intelligent and modern production technology, the assembly line combining humanized manual and automated equipment, and sigh the charm of modern technology manufacturing.
3.During the trip, we visited the French school headquarters, experienced a wonderful course, and participated in a grand French graduation ceremony, can you tell us what your impression of the French school headquarters and French teachers is?
My first impression of the French school headquarters was the same as that of Brest, a small seaside town in France—small but beautiful, quiet and simple, simple but not simple, and full of happiness. Although the weather was cold when we went, the French teachers were enthusiastic and unassuming, and everyone's faces were naturally relaxed and happy, making people feel warm and relaxed. There are many warm little details that I still remember, such as: when I was in the lecture hall, I added warm cotton cushions to each student's seat, which was romantic and warm, considerate and warm; When changing into graduation dresses, we thoughtfully prepare hangers for everyone, hang clothes, etc., so that everyone feels at home.
4.I heard that a total of 60 or 70 Chinese alumni participated in this study tour, they come from different majors of BBS, have you gained any new friends? Can you tell us about your new friends?
This time, our study tour team came from different majors of BBS, all over the country, and indeed gained a lot of new friends, they are all elites from all walks of life, including group chairmen, corporate founders, general managers, principals, doctors, lawyers, and of course, my peer psychological counselors. In this study tour, we witnessed each other's graduation achievements, harvested friendship, delicious meals, delicious coffee, beautiful **, all kinds of small surprises, small moods, and experienced all kinds of beauty together, of course, there are some "small tribulations", but also the achievement of our "friends in trouble".
5.Was there anything particularly interesting or memorable that happened during this 10-day study tour? Can you share it with us?
On this study tour to France and Germany, when the team leader introduced us to Germany, there was an impressive point: Germany has half of the Nobel Prizes in the world, and there are not many college students in Germany.
I don't think it's a waste of life and resources to let a fish climb a tree and a bird to swim? Every child has their own talents and strengths, and it is important for them to experience and understand everything in the world more so that they can discover what they are suitable for and what they want to become.
This time, whether it is the elegance, romance and relaxation of the French, or the coldness, uprightness and rigor of the Germans, I have a deep feeling, that is, everyone is natural and true to themselves, and there is no so-called "volume". In addition, it is also very interesting to communicate in foreign languages, such as: foreign friends next to you on the plane, service staff in the store, new foreign friends, teachers, classmates, in the case of language barriers, everyone does not feel embarrassed, but is a real, sincere body language expression plus a few key words output, everyone can read each other's meaning. This can't help but make me verify the "73855" principle in communication, that is, effective communication, only 7% comes from the text content you speak, 38% comes from the tone of your voice, and 55% comes from appearance and body language. Therefore, authentic and sincere tone and body language expression are the most effective communication, and there are no borders and people feel comfortable.
6.During the trip, we went to Brest in France, Paris in France, Stuttgart in Germany and Munich in Germany. Why?
In fact, these four cities have different characteristics:
Brest, France, a small seaside city full of romance, clean, quiet and warm, each house is different, with its own small details, small romance, but the whole is very harmonious.
Paris, France, the impression of the past may say the most is two words: romance, after this close experience of Paris, the word romance is obviously too basic, history, religion, architecture, art, classic, fashion, retro, luxury, freedom, tolerance, openness, order, calmness, personality, casualness ......Paris is more than just romantic.
Stuttgart and Munich, Germany, we did not stay for a long time, the overall impression is also outstanding, the strong cold industrial style, rigorous, rigid and straight, the streets, buildings, the state of the local people, are the same, but careful observation, the cold and hidden warmth, and in this contrast, the warm in the cold is warmer.
This trip is very time-consuming, and if I have the opportunity in the future, I am willing to spend more time to visit these cities and experience them in depth.
7.Can you share your overall thoughts on this study tour in Europe?
The first stop in Europe this time is Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, I didn't expect that the airport in Paris, France has Chinese simplified signs everywhere, and there are Chinese radio notices in the airport's transfer ferry train, which makes me feel extremely proud and proud as a Chinese, and feel the strength of our big China.
In the course of this study tour, I felt the different cultural charm and unique styles of European countries, although the time is very short, but it may be my professional sensitivity or I personally pay more attention to details, I will observe some details of things, such as: the details of the airport, the street signs, the residents' house signs, the display in the window, the text on the wall tiles, the retro color of the car license plate, the wall paintings in the corridor of the shopping mall, the quiet café on the street corner, the little girl reading a book in the corner of the library, The floor-to-ceiling windows of the hotel, the street tracks after the snow, the yellow fallen leaves, and the state of the street people ......There is a saying in Zen: "Settle in the present moment and go deep into every detail", it is precisely because of these small details that I can settle down in a short journey, savor it, feel the foreign culture and customs, and be extremely full and not in a hurry.
Here are some of the details:
8.Now that you've completed two years of the BBS Master's program and earned your degree, are you ready to pursue a career in psychology?
The psychology industry is an industry that requires lifelong learning, and I often tell my friends that learning is one of the things we do as psychologists. Because psychological work is a kind of work that affects life with life, and learning is to let us live our own good life state first, so in this sense, psychology is inseparable from my psychological work, my life, and even my life state.
9.You are studying for a master's degree in Applied Psychology and Management at BBS, and there are many types of psychology majors, how did you come up with the idea of studying this major?
It is true that there are many professional subdivisions in psychology, because my current field is mainly one-on-one psychological counseling services, psychological training and teaching, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) projects in cooperation with some enterprises, that is, enterprise employee psychological management service projects. There is also a part of the psychological management service of enterprise employees that is also related to management, which happens to be the part that I like and am good at, and enrolling in this major is also to allow myself to consolidate my learning more systematically and deeply, and then see if there is anything that can break through and innovate.
10.What kind of counseling and related services does your counseling studio provide?
At present, my psychological counseling studio does one-on-one psychological counseling, psychological training, and corporate EAP cooperation projects, and the main topics involved are:
Self-growth, interpersonal relationships, personal mental and thinking mode improvement, emotional management, stress management, emotional problems, effective communication, career development, etc.
Couples: intimate relationships, conflicts, effective communication, emotional management, extramarital affairs, etc.;
Kids: Learning empowerment, learning style, concentration improvement, interpersonal communication, relationship with parents, career planning, career exploration, emotion, stress, adolescent troubles, school adaptation problems, personal development problems, school boredom, school refusal, etc.
Family: family education, parent-child relationship, intimacy, interpersonal relationships, family relationships, how to support children, parenting problems, communication problems, etc.
Career: Career awakening education, self-awareness (interests, abilities, personality, values, etc.), career assessment, external exploration (work world, major, university, multiple study paths, etc.), goal setting and subject selection decisions, etc.
These topics don't seem to be things in the same dimension, and there are some overlaps and overlaps in them, but in fact, their underlying logic is the same, just like the "confidant" in the name of my studio "confidant psychological space", not the meaning of friends and confidants, but "know yourself", know yourself, know yourself. Whether it is psychological counseling, psychological training, or employee psychological services, they are all helping the parties to understand themselves and understand themselves, so as to better use themselves and live their lives.
11.Finally, could you please say a word of blessing to Dram and BBS?
I would like to share a poem by Rabindranath Tagore "Influencing Life with Life" to read with you:
Live yourself as a light,
Because you don't know
Who will pass by your light,
Out of the darkness.
Please keep the kindness in your heart
Because you don't know
Who will lend your goodness,
Out of despair.
Please keep the faith in your heart
Because you don't know
Who will pass by your faith,
Out of the confusion.
Please believe in your own power
Because you don't know
Who will believe in you,
I began to believe in my own ......
May each of us live as a beam of light
Blooming with all the goodness! “
I wish Drim and BBS can continue to shine and become a continuous positive energy field!
