It has high strength, high modulus, corrosion resistance and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, and is an important material for national defense, military industry and civil use. The molecular composition of coal-based asphalt is complex, and it is difficult to control the order of polycondensation, so it needs to be modulated and modified, and hydrogenation modification is the most effective way. Most of them use the NI-MO-AI203 catalyst to hydrogenate the coal pitch to improve the material performance, but this method has the disadvantage of ultrafine particle residue of the catalyst.
Activated carbon fiber is a functional carbon material with rich void structure obtained by physical or chemical activation of carbon fiber, which is mostly used for air purification, flue gas desulfurization, catalyst carrier, capacitor electrode, etc. Guo et al. synthesized spinnable mesophase asphalt with co-carbonized asphalt of coal tar asphalt and petroleum asphalt, and the carbon fiber further prepared by this not only has good mechanical properties, but also has excellent thermal conductivity.
Qiu Jieshan's research team has prepared a series of high-performance sodium-potassium-ion battery anode materials using coal pitch as raw material, based on aromatic hydrocarbon molecular tailoring and modification methods, and using controlled carbonization technology.
