Vietnam's relationship with our country as a country has been up and down, sometimes supporting us, sometimes creating problems for us behind our backs. In 2019, China plans to import 9 million tons of rice from Vietnam.
In order to protect the interests of our country, we decisively abandoned cooperation with Vietnam and directly canceled the order for the purchase of rice.
Vietnam regrets that Taiwan Province of China is part of our country, which is an indisputable historical fact. However, due to the interference of the United States, there are still many countries that do not recognize Taiwan as belonging to China.
Fortunately, our country has long anticipated this situation and has developed a corresponding strategy to deal with it. Even without rice cooperation with Vietnam, we would still be able to fill the gap of 9 million tons of rice.
Taiwan Province has always been part of China, and there is no need for any country to question this. In Vietnam's official documents, the word "China" after Taiwan is the best proof of this.
On October 16, 2023, Vietnam held the "Vietnam-Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition". It is gratifying to note that the backdrop of the event was written in Vietnamese and English with Taiwan and China (Taiwan).
*After it spread to China, many netizens praised Vietnam, believing that they are our friendly partners, distinguishing between right and wrong and taking into account the overall situation. Vietnam's recognition of the one-China principle is indeed commendable.
However, Vietnam is a fickle country that often changes its attitude towards our country, sometimes ostensibly friendly with us, but behind the scenes it sets traps for us.
For all the troubles behind Vietnam's manufacturing to our country, I have to mention the incident of Vietnamese rice sitting on the ground in 2019. Ensuring food security is the country's top priority, and China, as one of the world's largest rice importers, has been actively purchasing grain from other countries in order to meet domestic grain needs.
Vietnamese rice has been known for its high quality, low price and trustworthiness since ancient times, so after multiple considerations, our country began to import rice from Vietnam in 2003.
Since then, China and Vietnam have established a deep friendship in long-term cooperation, and by 2010, China has become a major importer of Vietnamese rice, making great contributions to Vietnam's economic development.
In 2019, China signed a US$1.5 billion rice order with Vietnam, of which 9 million tons of rice is a symbol of China's deep trust in Vietnam.
However, this trust was not reciprocated by the Vietnamese, but in exchange for the Vietnamese backstabbing them. After receiving the rice sent by Vietnam in advance, China conducted an inspection as usual, and found that several tons of rice were badly moldy, which is undoubtedly a serious betrayal of China's trust.
In one transaction, China asked Vietnam out of trust if there were any special circumstances. However, the Vietnamese side gave only a perfunctory response, blaming the moldy rice on the hot weather.
Although we understood that there may be surprises in long-distance transportation, we accepted and understood Vietnam's explanation and asked to re-sign the contract to improve the quality of rice.
However, soon after agreeing to our demands, the Vietnamese unilaterally tore up the contract, claiming that the cost of domestic cultivation was too high and that the price had to be increased**. We are deeply disappointed by such behavior.
Vietnam has repeatedly shirked its responsibilities and demanded sky-high prices, which has made us deeply angry. After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel the order for 9 million tons of rice ordered in Vietnam.
Since Vietnam does not keep its word, then we will no longer trade with it. After canceling the order, Vietnam will have to bear the consequences on its own. Back in 2019, we decisively cancelled orders due to food security concerns, which once again proves that we attach great importance to food security.
Our granaries are well stocked, and we always insist on food security"Kurakushi"vigorously research and develop new varieties such as space breeding and seabed hybrid rice, and continue to improve the level of grain production.
In addition, although we have canceled the rice order with Vietnam, it does not mean that we will not be able to import rice. In fact, India, Brazil, Cambodia and other countries have established friendly and cooperative relations with us.
China's cancellation of rice orders with Vietnam and the switch to buying from other countries may add some cost and time, but for Vietnam, they will undoubtedly face great distress if they lose this big customer from China.
Vietnam used to think that they could make any price to China because they had more rice, but after we cancelled the order outright, they would have regretted it.
Once China is lost as a major customer, Vietnam's 9 million tons of rice, which accounts for one-fifth of its exports, may face unsalable, which in turn will lead to a backlog of rice stocks and difficulties in capital turnover.
Vietnam's behavior of sitting on the ground and raising prices may lose China, a major customer, which is also a heavy blow to Vietnam's international reputation. Therefore, when other countries consider cooperating with Vietnam in the future, they may have doubts about whether Vietnam is a reliable partner, which will undoubtedly bring losses to Vietnam's economy.
Why did Vietnam, at the risk of tearing its face with our country, play this clever trick too? The reason for this is that Vietnam is actually hoping to take advantage of the crisis when our country is facing a food shortage.
In 2019, due to the impact of extreme weather, China's domestic grain production declined, and this is the time when a large amount of food needs to be imported.
Despite its proximity, Vietnam has not solved our country's urgent needs, but has used food security to blackmail us at this critical moment, trying to control our country's food lifeline, so as to gain improper benefits, which is really shameless!
As a country with a long history, Vietnam does not hesitate to backstab China for the sake of petty profits, which makes people wonder why it can maintain the one-China principle on the political issue of recognizing China's Taiwan, but chooses to oppose China in its exchanges.
Vietnam was ruled by our country during the Han Dynasty, which undoubtedly made the "pretentious" Vietnamese feel a great humiliation, so anti-Chinese sentiment has always existed among the Vietnamese people.
In addition, under the influence of the Western powers, Vietnam also had inflated ambitions and wanted to create a South Asian empire.
Vietnam has always held the mentality of "if China can do it, we can do it", but it has ignored the gap between its own strength and ambition. Under the influence of this distorted thinking, Vietnam often looks for opportunities to provoke China, and looks down on the Chinese, believing that the Chinese are "stupid and have a lot of money."
They want to make China suffer and make money by selling low-quality rice to China, and then selling high-quality rice that was originally going to be sold to China to other countries.
But as a result, they often suffer the consequences. Why does Vietnam want to sit on the ground and raise prices, just because 9 million tons of rice dares to offend China. In fact, this is not the first time Vietnam has done this, as early as the 20th century, they took revenge on China.
In the war of aggression against Vietnam in the 60s of the last century, despite the fact that China's domestic economic strength was average and everything was waiting to be rebuilt, we still did our best to squeeze out some materials to support it at the request of Vietnam.
Prior to that, we had also provided a lot of assistance to Vietnam. In 1950, Senior General Tran Geng went to the front line to direct the war between Vietnam and France. Even the withdrawal of French troops from Vietnam relied on the arguments of the Geneva Conference in 1954.
In 1975, history repeated itself, and with our assistance, Vietnam successfully freed itself from the colonial rule of the United States and achieved peaceful independence. In this regard, President Ho Chi Minh affectionately referred to Sino-Vietnamese relations as "comrades and brothers".
It can be said that Vietnam's victory is inseparable from our strong support, and we look forward to friendly coexistence between China and Vietnam. However, to our surprise, as soon as the enemy left, Vietnam's attitude changed dramatically, and they immediately aimed their ** at China, showing the ugly side of revenge.
Since 1974, Viet Nam has frequently provoked border clashes, which have caused great harm to our people, and have tried to encroach on our territory. After Ho Chi Minh's death in 1969, Vietnam's new leader hoped to realize the dream of a great power, but this dream was shattered by our country's self-defense counterattack against Vietnam in 1979.
At that time, the Chinese ** people rushed into the territory of Vietnam and made them realize the facts.
Sadly, the bags used by Vietnam as military fortresses contained rice from the Chinese people's province that had eaten frugally and supported them with all their might. However, Vietnam has not stopped on the path of pursuing its "dream".
Today, Vietnam has chosen to live in peace with our country for the sake of its interests, but under the superficial friendly relations such as grain cooperation and high-speed rail cooperation, they have never given up their coveting of our territory.
In addition to the unscrupulous behavior of moldy rice and sitting on the ground, Vietnam even tried in vain to blur our territorial sovereignty. On September 25, 2023, a spokesperson for Vietnam staged a farce, claiming that China's construction of an AIS base station in the Paracel Islands was a jaw-dropping violation of Vietnam's sovereignty.
The Paracel Islands have been China's inherent territory since ancient times, as even a three-year-old child knows. However, Vietnam has questioned and criticized this as an act of disregard for our territorial sovereignty, which is really incomprehensible.
Construction in our territory is completely legal and compliant, just like renovating your own home, and your neighbors have no right to dictate. With regard to Vietnam's capricious and aggressive acts, our attitude has always been the same, that is, we will resolutely safeguard our territory and interests, and will never tolerate any violations by Vietnam.
Vietnam has tried to use its cleverness to provoke China, but history has shown that this will only make Vietnam suffer for itself. Finally, we hope that Vietnam will wake up as soon as possible and stop harming China's interests.
This is because this kind of behavior will not only fail to help Vietnam's development, but will damage Sino-Vietnamese relations, and it will be Vietnam itself that will ultimately suffer.
