Recently, under the leadership of Academician Qiao Hong and the director of the National Key Laboratory of Multimodal Artificial Intelligence Systems, the humanoid robot research team of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has successfully developed and demonstrated its pedigree humanoid robot Q series, marking that China has made significant original achievements in the field of high-precision operations and brain-like intelligent robots.

Multi-bot collaboration.

Based on the theory of "environmental attraction domain" and the original innovative technology accumulated over the years, the team has overcome a number of core technical difficulties, including high-explosive integrated joints, AI-enabled design, robot large models and humanoid compliance control, etc., and established a "large factory" for the design and assembly of humanoid robots, realizing the whole process of quickly building and optimizing the software and hardware systems of humanoid robots.

It is understood that the "big factory" has produced a number of Q series humanoid robot prototypes designed for different application scenarios, including:

In response to the needs of adaptability to complex outdoor environments, the research team launched the bionic highly dynamic robot Q1, which has the ability of accurate tracking and balance control of the whole body posture; The multi-terrain adaptation robot Q2 can adapt to various complex terrains both indoor and outdoor and maintain a stable movement state. The high-explosive motion robot Q3 shows excellent environmental adaptability through batch robust control technology, and is expected to provide intelligent solutions for farmland operations, field patrols and other scenarios.

Human-machine collaboration.

In terms of exploring the characteristics of human movement and the principle of precise operation, the team developed the humanoid robot Q4, which simulates the nonlinear characteristics of the human musculoskeletal system, the muscle distribution characteristics and the control mechanism of the motor nerve circuit, and achieves high compliance and high-precision movements, providing solid theoretical and technical support for building a new generation of highly anthropomorphic high-performance humanoid robots.

Robot autonomously assembled.

Facing the requirements of intelligent multi-task processing in indoor scenes, the research team integrated the Zidong Taichu multi-modal large model into the humanoid robot Q5, which makes it have fast and accurate task logical reasoning and execution capabilities, indicating that this type of robot will play an important role in smart factory operations, family life services and other fields.

In addition, the modular and serialized production capacity of the "big factory" of humanoid robots can not only quickly generate a variety of customized humanoid robot systems, but also lay the cornerstone for the future formulation of humanoid robot technology standards, the promotion of industrialization process, and even the realization of self-production, self-construction and self-evolution of robots in extreme environments.

With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and its subordinate National Key Laboratory of Multimodal Artificial Intelligence Systems, reorganized the original State Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition and the State Key Laboratory of Complex System Management and Control, becoming one of the first approved national key laboratories in the field of artificial intelligence.

At present, the work of the research team has been strongly supported by the humanoid robot pre-research project of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the 2035 innovation task, and they are actively participating in the activities of the World Robot Cooperation Organization and playing an important role in the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.

Focusing on the major strategic needs of the country, the team will continue to focus on key technology research and development, system cultivation, scenario expansion, industrial ecological construction and strengthening of support capabilities, so as to comprehensively enhance the competitiveness and influence of China's humanoid robot industry in the world.
